Remembering you Dad on the day we lost you...
As football season approaches each year losing you feels much more prominent, but I also have such warm, fun memories such as hanging out with Violator in the parking lot at the #oaklandalamedacountycoliseum before an #oaklandraiders game sometime in the past...

Images from my ferry trip to #suduroy island today - cold, damp, windy and my nail biting drive in dense fog to the highest cliffs there proved futile as they wiped out the best view. Oh well, that’s life on the #faroeislands taken in Tabletop Suðuroy by @fanatic_project

“How can you not be romantic about baseball”— MONEYBALL

This was my last view of the Oakland Coliseum as I looked back one final time from the Coliseum BART station. The last time trudging across the pedestrian access bridge to and from the Coliseum to the Station, still filled with fans who left the ballpark late this day…

This is my least favorite view of the “concrete cavern,” it’s least aesthetically appealing angle of the not so affectionately nick-named “Mount Davis” after the late owner of the Oakland Raiders, Al Davis. When I was a young lad going to Athletics and Raiders games with my late Dad in the early 1970’s I loved that you could see the Oakland hills off in the distance from where we typically sat in the west side of the coliseum, pre - Mount Davis.

I remember my Dad gave me my first sips of beer at A’s and Raiders games and at the time wondering how anyone could drink this stuff. I remember going to the local deli in Moraga and getting sandwiches and chips and bringing them to the game when I wanted nothing but a hot dog instead. But my Dad insisted as it was less expensive, and better for you; I didn’t appreciate it at the time.

I remember my Mom dropping me off at my Dad’s store in Oakland, Home Yardage, because he was taking me to an Oakland A’s World Series game, we went to the Series each year the A’s were in: 1972, 1973, & 1974. They were glorious years. For one of the games we went walking through Oakland away from his store and I didn’t know where we were going an he pointed down the stairs to the brand new subterranean downtown BART station and he said, “We’re going down there, son.” As a young boy I was obsesses with trains, and dinosaurs of course, and to have my first ride on BART and to a WORLD SERIES GAME was one of the best days of my young life.

I remember Reggie Jackson hitting a dinger in one of the World Series games and a woman...(rest in post) www.zimmagery.com /. ©commencingcountdownproductionsllc /. @lastdivebar @oakland.athletics_fanpage @oakland.athletics_fanpage @oaklandathleticsfanhub @oaklandathleticsfanpage @oakland__as_fan_page taken in Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum by @fanatic_project

#OaklandForever indeed as fans say goodbye to #MLB in #oakland and to professional sports at the #0aklandColiseum as the #Raiders, #Athletics, and #Warriors have now all split from the city. Every team I grew up watching as a little kid is now gone from my hometown. Still wrapping my head around it...

Mason Miller's 103mph fastball for a groundout was the final pitch from the mound at the #oaklandcoliseum as #OaklandAs manager #markkotsay bid an emotional farewell to fans who were tipping their caps to the entire team. It was a challenge to fight back tears as the lights went out on MLB in #oakland.

How nice was it that we got a true chamber of commerce day out at the #oaklandcoliseum for the final home game for the #OaklandAs. But it also added to the bittersweet emotion to the day, the memories that came flooding back. Note the groundskeepers mowed "Thank You Oakland" into the outfield grass!

The beauty of #OaklandAs fans has always had a fun element of "weird" about them. Fun 'weird." So I'm adding this weird image of an inflatable baseball floating above the #RightFieldBleachers at the #oaklandcoliseum.

Unknown #OaklandAs fan in the #RightFieldBleachers where the rowdiest fans of the #oaklandcoliseum resided, blowing horns, banging drums, and waving flags. These fans truly represent the spirit of why I began documenting fans from around the world in the first place. #oaklandathletics
