In 2023, my life took an incredible turn. I made my official directorial debut at the prestigious Kennedy Center, becoming the first Chinese director ever to be produced there. Collaborating with both old and new friends from the past 12 years, we brought to life the astonishing World Premiere TYA Musical: The Dragon King’s Daughter.

What made this experience truly significant was that it was the first production of mine that my parents witnessed in the United States. Finally, they had a glimpse into the world that has shaped my life.

For AAPI and immigrant artists, opportunities are scarce. It’s time for the industry to carve out more space for our voices. We’re skilled, knowledgeable, and we excel in what we do—it’s about time our talents are recognized and embraced. taken in KennedyCenter by @fanchongren

Ina Garten told Ophra in an interview that she makes the food that’s associated with fond memories.

I’m making my mom’s weeknight Shanghai Style Salt Pork Chinese Sausage Veggie Rice. I chopped the ingredients and rice cooker did all the cooking.
