GTE Am and LMP2 victories - is the @fanchracing and @afcorse_official partnership one of the greatest we’ve seen? 👀Back in 2024, Perrodo teamed up with @ben_barnicoat and @nicovarrone1 to secure victory in the LMP2 Pro/Am class after a superb run at the @24heuresdumans. 👊But the story started even earlier - in 2021, Perrodo already claimed victory in GTE Am with AF Corse at Le Mans, making him the only gentleman driver to win both categories. 🏆#ELMS #LeMans24 by @fanchracing

Porsche RS SpyderIn the second half of the years 2000, Porsche created (with Dallara), the RS Spyder.An LMP2 race car that was so good it ended up beating the LMP1 cars at Sebring in 2008.I was privileged enough to race that car recently in Imola and Spa and truth be told, it’s one of the best cars I have ever driven. It is so light, 830kg in its current FIA specs but remove the ballast and the Spyder weighs 790 kg!I never thought I’d say that about a car but it actually has too much downforce, this thing is absolutely glued to the track, the more you push, the more she gives.With so much DF and 480hp from her V8, it’s not the fastest car in the straight line but give her some corners (preferably fast) and she shines!To give you some perspective , at Spa in race pace, in sector 2, the Spyder was 2 seconds faster than the WEC Hypercars who raced later that same day!!!Back in 2008, at Sebring, T1 was flat!Unfortunately, with so much downforce comes a lot of drag and very soon the Spyder hits an aero wall and TS won’t go over 260 kmh. On a power track like Spa, that’s slow. Let’s see if we can adjust the balance for future events.The spirit of the Spyder lives on, in typical Porsche fashion, the V8 ended up powering the fabulous 918 Spyder Road car and to this day, the 963 LMDh, with the help of two little turbos. The story of two GOATs“Le Mans is where careers are made and legends are born. Win here and become an icon.” (Truth in 24, part 2).The F1 LM was built to celebrate the five F1 GTR that crossed the finish line in 1995. Essentially a GTR Stradale without FIA restrictions, the mighty S70/2 pushed to its limit, 8500rpm red line, 680ps for 1062kg, the most powerful and lightest F1 ever made. The ultimate version of the greatest sports car ever, full stop.But if it wasn’t for Paul and his team, the LM would have never existed. Yes, mention the F1 and names like Ron, Gordon and Mansour come to mind but make no mistake, Paul made history in June 1995, not only did he contribute to build the legend, but still today and most importantly, tomorrow, he is the man.A very emotional moment to see LM2 with Paul behind the wheel.A car built to celebrate what is still today one of the greatest motorsport story of all times.LM2 is literally as new, after many years spent in Japan and in the USA, she is now back home.A huge thank you to @mouse_motors for trusting us to be her third caretaker.Paul and his team are getting LM2 ready for her next road trip. Peak Maserati. Two amazing cars that define their era. The MC12 for the noughties and her little sister the MC20 for the twenties. They live in the shadow of their Maranello cousins and yet, are better to drive. True connoisseurs cars. Yes the gearbox of the MC12 could be faster but in corsa mode it’s fine and yes the MC20’s voice is not exactly sexy but when you have such a brillant chassis you forgive everything else. By comparison the 812 Competizione Aperta has an amazing drivetrain, but the overall package is let down by a chassis that can’t quite keep with up with the power, especially after driving it back 2 back with the Masers. What an engine though, and gorgeous looks. Proper GT too with a massive boot and still room to store the hard top. Elbow scores: MC12 7 (she’s a modern classic now and a true homologation special)MC20 4 (modern car with high door line but a quirky choice especially with the MC12 livery)812 A 0 (a logical zero. Still early days with Valkyrie. Not even 2000km on the clock which isn’t much, but enough to realise what an achievement this car is. As Henry Catchpole rightfully said, it’s a landmark car. After a very difficult birth involving so many companies, mainly Aston Martin, Red Bull Racing, Cosworth, Ricardo and Multimatic, the Valkyrie had to hit the road even if it meant a reliability that is not 100%.Frankly, this car is like nothing else, it blows aways your sense, it’s an LMP1 car with plates on, only faster! And two real seats, aircon, Satnav, etc. I could write so many posts it’s difficult to know where to start. The power, the handling, the active chassis relying on torsion bars as opposed to traditional dampers and springs, the car is always flat and rides extremely well, resulting in a aero platform you can lean on, even at reasonable road speeds, it’s bonkers. The faster you go, the more confidence the chassis gives you!Happy to answer any questions if I have time.More to come, promised. One thing to note for winter driving, she picks up dirt like nothing else!!! by @fanchracing
