Well, at least all the wing listings came down but I cant say the same for the temp tattoos. I'm still waiting for an answer about why, and I'm still gutted at how much they made off my design that I'm apparently unlikely to get. This is why I've been so quiet lately. by @fancyfairyangela

“Only those who truly love and who are truly strong can sustain their lives as a dream. You dwell in your own enchantment. Life throws stones at you, but your love and your dream change those stones into the flowers of discovery. Even if you lose, or are defeated by things, your triumph will always be exemplary. And if no one knows it, then there are places that do. People like you enrich the dreams of the worlds, and it is dreams that create history. People like you are unknowing transformers of things, protected by your own fairy-tale, by love.” ~ Ben Okri

We traveled a long way to hunt for fog by the lake, but of course, there wasn’t any fog... 😅But we took some photos anyway and when we first posted them, they got thousands of likes! 🤎And the way Vairë posed… ahh… it’s pure poetry! ✨ Such beautiful memories from this photo shoot. 🥹🧚🏻

“I want to be magic. I want to touch the heart of the world and make it smile. I want to be a friend of elves and live in a tree. Or under a hill. I want to marry a moonbeam and hear the stars sing. I don’t want to pretend at magic anymore. I want to be magic.” ~ Charles de Lint

I’m so ready for fall.

“Perhaps all women are part faerie, for what woman can deny her faerie blood when the portals to her own land are open; when the full moon sings its insistent song; when sorrow and passion and rage pulse through her body at moon times. This is why women are the chosen ones of Faerie, pat of the vibrant, fluid, emotional soul of the world.”

My latest fairy wings, and a look at how I designed & painted them.
I used ProCreate for the design sketch, and Photoshop for the painting.
I used my phone to capture the replay from ProCreate so I could show you there's no existing image being traced, either AI or otherwise since their replays hide reference layers that a lot of artists use to trace an underlying image.
I used an extension, PixelRec Pro to capture the brush strokes in Photoshop, a thing I didn't know existed until last week! That one doesn't hide any layers the way ProCreate replays do.

I don't have the time to make posts like this for every set of wings, but I felt it was important I make it very clear that I don't use gen AI in my work. I made my very 1st set of wings in the 1990's for myself, & started making them for others in 2003 without needing to use existing clip art, without copying others' designs and without gen AI. Even though I experimented with it early on, it was just for fun before I knew about the water usage & the extent of exploitation, and to test it to see if it could reproduce my designs so I could address that if so. I also needed to know how it works & what it produces so I can recognize it when I see it, since those AI detectors are sadly not reliable & produce false positive results too often which can be harmful to a legitimate artist's reputation & livelihood. Even I'm fooled sometimes now though because it's gotten TOO GOOD. Scary good.

I go over this more in today's blog post, where you'll see more new wings but, some of you are probably following wing makers using gen AI for their designs without realizing it. by @fancyfairyangela

“You can’t stand up to the night until you understand what’s hiding in its shadows.” ~ Charles de Lint

It took a little bit to get where I could fix this, but I was made aware of something that could be considered cultural appropriation in the make up. It’s been removed and will be removed from the rest of the shoot. Neither the model who did her makeup or myself noticed as such but wanted it removed. So here’s a repost without it. We both apologize if it bothered anyone, it was unintentional but will be prevented in the future. In this and other shoots.
