*storytime:*
"Bite My Tongue" was originally released on our debut album "BACKWOODS FOOL".
Since the album release, I (Cat) decided to re-record this track to include @michael_str1ke (who recently joined the band in 2025) on accordion, and Potatoe Jones @strings_4_6_8 on fiddle, wherein the original recording of the track only featured John (baritone guitar, kick, and vocals 2021-2024) and I.
"Bite My Tongue" is one of my very favorite songs I have ever written lyrically, and I suddenly found myself creating a whole story in my head inspired by the plot of the song.
From there, the concept for the upcoming record "Loretta's Prayer" was born. "Bite My Tongue" plays an integral part of the storyline, and became the point of view of the character Beau Gentry: a well-off general store owner, who murders his wife Loretta.
There is also an upcoming music video for this song, and all of the characters will be revealed at that point.
Eventually, there will ALSO be a whole BOOK to accompany this record, (because I have too much story I NEED to tell that is unable to be conveyed with only music!)
"Bite My Tongue (redux)" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by the one and only Gage Brunes of @fuzztapesstudios in Evansville, WI (he also lent his vocals in the choruses on the track!)
"Loretta's Prayer" is set to be released this winter (release date TBD). Originally we had planned for an autumn release, but certain logistics and nonsense have prevented us from getting together to write and record as fast as we would have liked to. Ideally this record would have been seen to completion before the promotional tour in November, but we believe in quality over speed, and therefore, we had to make the decision to push the release date back so we can take the time to truly get the story of this record to it's best possible form.
