Bridging the gap is about putting yourself on the map, gathering your identities, reclaiming your voice, and taking space.
I had the opportunity of showing Bridging the Gap as a performance & presentation during an art-sci seminar in front of a diverse audience of researchers, artists, practitioners, who discovered whacking on a tuesday morning at the University of Helsinki, and took their first whacking class that same evening with me. C'est la rentrée et nous avons la joie de vous retrouver le 19 septembre au @lepointfort.aubervilliers pour une @lavelu.e hors les murs durant le @wetoo.festival !!

Fanny Queen: big personne noire queer qui s’exprime à travers le punking/whacking.
(Life)Style né dans les années 70 dans les clubs gays de Los Angeles, le punking/whacking émerge des oppressions et revendications des communautés gay, queer, racisées.
Fanny découvre ce moyen d’expression principalement à travers le freestyle d’abord lors de battles européens, puis en tant qu’interprète dans le cadre de créations chorégraphiques (Mounia Nassangar, Kiddy Smile, les Delacrème). Cette rencontre, c’était le moment de rassembler les différentes parties de son identité.
Fanny Queen cherche à ce que l’intention soit présente, même et surtout dans le plus petit mouvement, sa danse retranscrit ce qu’elle a pu observer ; l’inspiration se trouve dans le fait de vouloir transmettre un message, des souvenirs, une réflexion en cours ou un simple détail. 💕⭐️💕⭐️
