GENERATION TRUST:

A feature documentary @clariwetzel and I co-directed and filmed together for @youth4climate_ , across Liberia, Uganda, Colombia, Bolivia, Pakistan, and Italy. The film follows five young climate leaders rebuilding food, energy, mobility, and education systems from the ground up in the places they call home.

Making this film kept bringing me back to the same realization:
young people don’t only need visibility, they need trust.

Trust in their ideas.
Trust in their ways of organizing.
Trust from institutions.
Trust from those holding power.

Each person we followed is working within their own communities, alongside the people they know and love. They mobilize others not because it’s a project, but because it’s home. And that creates a very different kind of climate action: one rooted in relationships, where every real breakthrough begins with people believing in each other enough to continue.

Stories don’t open up in front of a camera, they open up in trust.

Grateful and honoured. Thank you to everyone involved!

Produced by @youth4climate_ (@undp & Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security) with support from the 8x1000 funds of the Italian Buddhist Institute Soka Gakkai.

A short doc about how growing up with an open air lifestyle in Norway has meant that an active and deep connection to nature is right at the core of Sigrid’s creative process. Travelling to both Norway and Japan for filming we really witnessed the universality of people’s desire to connect to green spaces in this one.

A massive thank you to @dosed.films , @charlotte.jaegs , @rowanbiddiscombe, @sigrid and @napsugarbardocz for always going above and beyond and making it a memorable one, to the entire crew for bringing this project to life, and to DHL for their sponsorship of the project.

In June, @clariwetzel and I began production on Generation Trust in South America, a feature documentary film created in collaboration with @youth4climate_ and @undp, following five youth-led climate initiatives across the world.
From Bolivia and Colombia to Uganda, Liberia, Pakistan and Italy, this project took over our lives for the last 7 months.

Together, we filmed, directed, and produced, supported by a generous team and collaborators we couldn’t have done this without.

So grateful to make something like this with Clari, We’ve grown up side by side for 11 years through our work. Proud of us. <3

Can’t wait to share more from the feature soon! @whattookyousolong taken in South America by @fannypropp

From the smallest film format in the world, Super 8, to the biggest IMAX screen in the UK.

What an absolute honour to have been part of @supernaturefilm, directed by the legend Ed Sayers @edinstacam

Shot entirely on @kodak Super 8, this global love letter to nature brings together 40+ filmmakers from 25 countries. A celebration of all we have and a reflection on all we have to lose.

Back in 2022, @whattookyousolong and @youareterran filmed in Mexico and Sápmi, Norway. @aliciasilly capturing her son Cosmo discovering iguanas, while @fannypropp & @louisewths captured Sámi artist @ellemarjaeira among the reindeer up north.

On Friday, the film premiered at @britishfilminstitute IMAX. Seeing a tiny Super 8 frame fill that enormous screen was genuinely unforgettable.

Huge love to producers @beccawolff27, @aliceaedy and everyone else who poured their heart into this one 💚

SUPER NATURE is in cinemas across the UK now!!!

At the beginning of this summer, the Ukrainian-Swedish organisation @repower.ngo presented a photo exhibition at Almedalen, Sweden’s largest annual political gathering.

Titled ”The Force of Nature,” it featured our portraits of Ukrainian combat medics, taken during a RePower programme on Gotland in 2024. Immersed in Swedish nature, they found a space to restore their strength, regain their footing, and prepare to return to a war that is still ongoing.

We are incredibly proud and touched to see our photographs and stories brought to life in such a beautiful way, because behind every headline and statistic there are real people whose stories deserve to be heard. Thank you, RePower, for creating such a meaningful exhibition.

Reminder to all swedes to vote in this coming election with your heart and for humanity❤️

“It’s mid-autumn and the air is getting colder by the day. The trail of leaves left behind by the wind guides us into an old forest in Gotland, a Swedish island in the Baltic Sea. ‘It’s so weird to walk and not be looking for landmines’ Danylo and Nikita laugh behind me... Scenes like this define our time with the medics: moments of joy interrupted by the knowledge of another reality not too far away.”

In October 2024, I, along with photographers Fanny Lindström and Kegen Lorentzon, were fortunate to spend a few days with 60 Ukrainian combat medics on a rehabilitation retreat run by the not-for-profit organisation, @repower.ngo. For the medics, these retreats are a break in wartime routine and an opportunity for recovery. For us, it was a humbling and rewarding experience, stories of war juxtaposed with laughter and dancing in the cafeteria. It was a bonding experience in every direction, between Fanny, Kegen and me, us and the medics and volunteers, them with each other, ad infinitum. The result is a feature in @human_shift magazine, which you can read in my story highlights + at the link, and an exhibition at this year’s @almedalsveckanofficiell (!).There’s not much else to say except please enjoy the piece and Slava Ukraini. by @fannypropp

Last week, we celebrated Sámi National Day - a reminder that for generations the Sámi, Indigenous people of the Arctic, have lived in harmony with the region, where traditions like reindeer herding and joik singing are deeply rooted in the land.

But now, climate change, industrial development, and tourism are transforming this fragile landscape and putting their culture under pressure. While extractive industries like mining and logging erode their territory, tourism raises a more complex question: Can it harm or help? Unethical tourism disrupts reindeer migration and commercialises Sámi heritage—but when done right, it can offer vital support to the community.

In Climate Crossroads, we’re exploring how climate change threatens cultural traditions - and how tourism can be both a challenge and a tool for Sámi resilience.

Grateful to have spoken at @changenow_world in Paris on the Environmental Intelligence panel, where ancient wisdom, modern science, and storytelling meet in dialogue.

It meant a lot to speak about what it means to be a storyteller in these times, and why sharing indigenous stories, especially Sámi ones, is central to my work. As a non-Sámi person from Sweden, I spoke about the importance of allyship: telling stories without romanticizing, but with reverence.

Speaking on stage about something so close to my heart, I felt exposed and vulnerable, but also so held by community around me.

Thank you @thequeenofcare for inviting me and believing that these stories belong in the room. You are amazing. And to my fellow panelist Jonathan Jennings, it was such a pleasure to share the stage with you.

Storytelling moves people. It opens something.

Filled with inspiration and love for the community❤️ taken in Grand Palais by @fannypropp
