Forever in my Romeo and Juliet Era. I’m not ashamed to say that it was a young Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes that sparked my love of Shakespeare and especially Romeo and Juliet. Young little me thought that the 1996 film adaptation set in a modern world was the coolest thing I’d ever seen, and honestly I still love it. Pictured here is a volume of Shakespeare’s complete works from the 1940’s

I recently discovered @whitneyhansonpoetry and fell in love with her writing and the way she performs her pieces. I bought two of her books as well as the “In Poetry We Say…” prompt journal. I used to write a lot more, and I’m hoping to re-awaken some creativity and emotion and have fun with this ❤️

I’m not usually one for the classics, but sometimes I feel like I ~should~ read them, or maybe I just like the idea of being able to say I’ve read them and understand any references to the material. Either way, I spotted this book and thought it was pretty, so I grabbed it for my bookshelf. Are you a fan of any of the classics? If so, tell me which ones you’d recommend!

🔥House of Flame and Shadow🔥

I finished reading this over the weekend and have been devouring Bookstagram content since then, as I had a self imposed scrolling ban during reading so I wouldn’t catch any spoilers. I really enjoyed the journey of this book, learning all the tidbits of history, and the connections to current characters.

❗️SPOILERS ❗️ I’m ecstatic for Ruhn and Lidia 🤗 Lidia felt like the main character at many points through this read, I really loved her story. Bryce and Hunt -something about them together feels off - is this just me? Their relationship doesn’t feel like what we’ve seen with other mated pairs. It’s as though the deep connection feels forced at times. I LOVED seeing the ACOTAR characters again during Bryce’s time in Prythian. I wish the Bryce/Nesta/Azriel bonus chapter was part of the standard book, I thought it fit well and gave us a small glimpse into softer sides of both Azriel and Nesta. Very much looking forward to the next book in both the CC and ACOTAR series. by @fantasyreaderjess

I’ve wanted to live in the Pacific Northwest since I first visited in 2013. That dream became reality last year. Now approaching the one year mark of living here, I only just now feel as though I’m starting to settle in. It was naive, but I definitely underestimated how difficult it would be to make a cross country move away from the city and people I’ve known my whole life, and took for granted the sort of unrealized comfort that comes along with fully knowing your surroundings. My anxiety peaked for months and I was having physical symptoms that I wouldn’t realize were anxiety related until later. It’s only now, almost a year later, that I feel like I’m actually starting to feel more happy than sad each day. The scales have finally shifted. It was a weird feeling to have manifested a dream and yet not feel happy having done it. No matter what, I knew that if I didn’t take the opportunity, I’d later regret it and always wonder “what if?”. It’s been a journey, some days and situations are still hard. I coped many days through books, music and art, and even now like to remind myself of Morrigan’s advice: “don’t let the hard days win” ❤️ by @fantasyreaderjess

My new little bookshelf! I’m mostly an audiobook and e-book reader, so I don’t need much space for physical books, but I needed a home for the ones I do have. SJM gets top shelf 😉
