Winter has returned, and with it a part of my soul.Maybe people outside don’t understand how that first drop of rain has a completely different taste here…The smell of the earth, the cold breeze that wakes us up… the times that gather the family close together.Winter in Gaza has its own beauty—and its own ache.But even as I’m happy it’s back, my heart flinches…because the same rain that brings ease to our chests can also hurt us.Tents flooded, children waking up to cold water instead of warmth,and people clinging to God’s protection from a cold that breaks bones…Here, winter is joy mixed with fear, a beauty that never feels complete…And in the end, I’m left wondering—do I love winter, or do I hate it? by @farah_obada
