Italy update : Week 7

Not every week is about big results - sometimes it’s about doing the work quietly. 💪

Tuesday - Coppa Sportivi di Bognolo Sports Cup:
Crossed the line in 18th place! Every race on Italian soil is another lesson learned and another step forward. 📈

Rest of the week:
Normal training block + recon of a future race course. 👀

Because the best athletes don’t just race. They prepare, study, and plan ahead. That recon will pay off when race day comes! 🧠

Italy continues to be absolutely stunning with the views on training rides that never get old! 🏔️⛵

Grateful for every single day of this journey. 🙏

More races coming soon. Watch this space! 🔥

Italy update: Week 5 & 6🇮🇹

Some weeks test everything you’ve got. This was one of them. 💪

Week 5
Saturday - Tuscany Cycling Academy:
40km in - flat tyre, then a crash. 😤
Dusted myself off, got back on the bike, and finished 33rd OTL. Quitting was never an option. 💪🏽

Sunday - Eroica Juniores (Coppa Andrea Meneghelli):
20km in - another flat. 😩
DNF.

Two races. Two flats. One crash.
That’s racing. 🤷‍♂️

Week 6:
Took 2 days to recover from the injury, then straight back to the grind. 💪

Getting back on that bike after a crash, finishing a race when everything went wrong, recovering and returning to training. THAT’S the job.

Bad luck doesn’t define you. Your response does.

Back to full training now and hungry for the next race. 🔥

Also had the opportunity to watch the last stage of the Giro live 🩷

Grateful to @velekateam for the support through the rough patches! 🙏❤️

Italy update : week 4 🇮🇹

Not every week is about racing and pushing limits. Sometimes your body needs a break, and this week was one of those times.

Got sick mid-week, which kept me off the bike for a few days. Grateful to our team coach for looking after me and getting me the medicine I needed to bounce back. 💊🙏

Managed 3 training days of training as I listened to my body, took it easier, and focused on recovery.

I had to remind myself that resting is part of training. You can’t push hard if you don’t recover smart. 💪

Italy continues to amaze me with the views it’s just makes everything better! 🏔️

Back to full strength now and ready for this week ahead. 💪🏽🚴🏼

Thanks to @velekateam for supporting me through the good weeks and the tough ones. 🙏❤️

Let’s get back to business! 🔥

Italy Update: WEEK 2&3 🇮🇹

Another week in Italy, another set of lessons learned. 📚

Long hours in the saddle this week. Building the base, getting stronger, adapting to the Italian training intensity. The scenery here is stunning and the people are incredibly respectful to cyclists, which makes those long rides a bit easier! 🚴‍♂️

Race 3 was a 3 day tour, Giro d’Abruzzo : Sometimes racing is about the lessons more than the results. Got positioned wrong when the key move went, then got caught behind a few guys who dropped their chains on day 3. Racing luck wasn’t on my side this time, but that’s part of the game.

Day 1 was a 5 laps of a climby circuit with a technical decend 82nd
Day 2 was a 2km hill climb 99th
Day 3 was a 4 lap of a super hard climb circuit with a technical decend 60th

The goal isn’t perfection it’s progress. And I’m getting better every single day. 💪

Huge thanks to @velekateam for the continued support and guidance. They’re helping me become a smarter, stronger racer.

On to the next one! 🔥

Italy Update 🇮🇹🚴‍♂️

Race 1 - Liberazione:
My Italian racing debut! 90km crit with 140 junior riders, super tight turns, and 4 punishing hills. Fast, technical, and intense - finished 74th. Not the result I wanted, but valuable experience adapting to the Italian racing style. 📈

Race 2 - Gran Premio San Leolino:
100km of hills, steep kickers, long gravel sections, and high speed with 140 juniors This course suited me much better and I could feel the difference! Crossed the line in 9th place! 🔥

Massive thanks to @velekateam for believing in me and pushing me to be better every day! 🙏

In between all the training and racing we made sure to go site seeing. Thank you to the gents for making this trip not only about the cycling but about takes a second to live in the moment 💪🏽🙏🏽 @tom_ions @patrykszczypkowski by @faraz_cycling

South Africa National Road Champs

Good day out racing in Joburg. 14km circuit, 10 laps. Got into the break on lap 3 with 7 guys and we stayed away all day. Crashed with 2 laps to go and couldn’t make it back to the break, but managed to chase down 2 riders and finish P5. Not the result I wanted after being in the move, bittersweet but proud of the effort — we go again

huge thanks to my team for the help getting me there @kineticpro_rsa @oryanb7 @rodney.pedro

and huge thanks to my dad/coach for getting to up to standard @ahmedkhatieb and my family for backing me up @reygana8 @kurvykeefs @k.vermeulen @miggie_khatieb @layank19 @cheslindowman

What a journey it’s been getting to KENYA 🇰🇪, and I could not have done this without YOU—my friends, family, and everyone who saw my talent and believed in me.
To all who supported me, whether emotionally, mentally, physically, through encouragement, sharing our posts and plight, or financially 💙—I am humbly grateful.
