Dreams don’t work unless you do! Join me for a short day in the life of a 25 year old undergrad with a full time job. The weather is getting too cold to be recording outside but I had to show off the fit. Taking the bus in Midwest winter is the worst experience. Anyone else balancing school and work?

I am so glad to call this city my new home! It’s not NYC but it’s close enough for me. I mostly moved here to for school but I’ve always dreamed of moving back to a city at some point. Can’t wait for the new friends, memories, and experiences!

Getting one percent better everyday. Feel good about the small things that help you get closer to your goals.

Things that no one tells you about being a 25 year old college student.

It’s can feel like you’re the only one but you aren’t. There’s students of all ages and walks of life that are taking the same class as you. They are on their own educational journey.

You are not behind. Many people assume you can only attend college right after high school but it’s not true. Many students take gap years or attend college years later depending on their stage in life.

Balancing your work and school is hard. Classes are important but so is work. Make sure you work with your counselors to build a schedule around your work if possible.

Take advantage of your resources. There’s scholarships, events, and clubs you can be a part of to meet similar people on their academic journeys and help make your journey easier. Find your community!

Remember: you are not behind, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Game design can be challenging but it’s so much fun to create. I never considered game design and development as a possible career path but this makes me consider it.

I created a simple car racing game for a group project. Some friends and I quickly learned some blender and used C# to program the whole thing.

Not the best game but a great start indeed.

Spring has been treating me right. I was able to finish the semester strong, exceed my quarterly review, and get to travel.

Can’t wait to see what the summer has for me.

Small setup upgrade, big difference. The Razer Seiren V2 is here to keep the audio clean for streams, calls, voiceovers, and whatever project I’m working on next.

It has a 30mm dynamic microphone capsule, 24-bit audio, a 96 kHz sample rate, and an analog gain limiter to help keep vocals clean and suppress background noise.

Clean audio matters way more than people realize. This microphone offers studio quality sound with an affordable price tag.

Working in tech means random free goodies. I was invited to attend a free tech conference. Events like these seem intimidating because there’s a lot of people, imposter syndrome hits, and you feel shy talking to other people.

Everyone feels the same way! Just break the ice with a simple introduction and a set of doors open up. Most of the items I was given are exclusive limited edition items like the backpack and company figure.

This event was so much fun! I recommend attending your local tech conferences!

Just hours away from the new year but I couldn’t help but think about how great this year has been to me.

I had my lowest of lows but I also had the highest highs ever. I left college 2 years ago with failing grades, now I’m back in school on the Deans list. I left my low paying toxic job to my first tech role. I started posting content after telling myself I’ll start later.

The New Year is starting soon and I wish to keep the momentum going. Everyday will not be the same but I will continue to be the best version of myself.

December recap:

I turned 25 earlier this month and I’m honestly excited to have accomplished so much this year. I am so excited to finally have my own Bear Claws.

I’ve been reading more books this year. I did not reach my reading goal this year but I am starting the year off strong with this new book on AI. It’s an insane read and I recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about AI.

I developed a video game for a class project! It was a challenging experience but I became interested in game development. It’s not easy making video games. I have more respect for those who make them.

My coworkers gave me cards and gifts for the holidays. Little things like this help me feel less like a number at work and more like a person. I am truly grateful for the opportunity.

I was accepted to my dream university! After switching schools and taking some time off, I never thought I would go back to school to finish my degree. I am almost done with community college and I look forward to my next chapter at a bigger school in the city I love! I will see you soon Chicago!

I couldn’t be more grateful for this month and I look forward to the new year!

Been super busy right before the holiday break. Plenty of projects keeping me busy at work and in class. I can’t wait to work on my personal coding projects. What are you looking forward to during the holidays?
