"As our knowledge of the world grows, so does our realization that we cannot be the masters of our own
destiny. Even assuming the greatest possible progress of science, the factors under our control amount to nothing when compared to the vast array of factors beyond our control. The size of man is disproportionate to the vastness of this universe, and the entire lifespan of humanity is not a valid measure for the events that transpire within it.
This is the cause of man's constant sense of danger, reflected in his psyche as states of pessimism, rebellion, despair, apathy, or submission to God. Islam strives to organize this world through upbringing, education, and the laws it has enacted; this is its limited realm. Its vast realm, however, is submission to God."

The shortcoming of modern man is evident, for the most part, in his belief that everything is clear to him. His wisdom is the sum of his knowledge plus a vast amount of ignorance of which he is unaware, or better yet, which he accepts as knowledge. In the face of the Great Mystery, he acts with confidence and arrogance. He does not see the enigma, and herein lies the vast measure of his ignorance and prejudice.”

“One does not feel the grandeur and might of life except in the desert, where preserving life is difficult and arduous. Life there is like a gift, like a treasure, and it is always full of surprises. The world’s deserts are many, but this particular desert is the one that can truly shape your soul. It is barren, clear, pure; it erases from one’s heart the desire for life’s pleasures and transforms them into counterfeit forms whose falseness is obvious. Thus, it liberates the individual and makes them surrender to the absolute, in its essence, not in its form... That absolute which is farther than every far, yet closer than every near.”

‏”A seemingly endless, continuous ride; two men on two camels, and a scorching, burning sun. Everything bathes in a dazzling, powerful light. Sand dunes reflect red and orange lights that blind the sight; dune after dune, without end. Isolation and a burning silence. Two men on two swaying camels, in a monotony whose rhythm does not change with the pace of the steps that induce drowsiness. It makes you forget what day it is, and forget the scorching sun, the inflamed wind, and the long road whose end seems nowhere in sight.”

“My Christophers, thank you for being a part of my life. Do not grieve for me. All things must come to an end - youth, pain, passion, emptiness, war, violence. Do the flowers not bloom and fade? Just as I came into being, so must I pass out of existence. Look up to the sky. That’s where the stars are. They are always shining there, whether we are gazing up at them, and whether we forget, and long after we die. May each of you become one of those shining stars.” by @faris.onceagain

The state of cultural and social chaos through which we are passing at present distinctly shows that the balancing forces which once were responsible for the greatness of the Islamic world are nearly exhausted today. We are drifting; and no one knows to what cultural end. No intellectual courage remains, no will to resist or to avert that torrent of foreign influences destructive to our religion and society . We have thrown aside the best moral teachings which the world has ever known.

We belie our faith, whereas to our distant forebears it was a living urge; we are ashamed, whereas they were proud; we are mean and self-centred, whereas they generously opened themselves out to the world; we are empty, whereas they were full.”

It seems the first builder of the Kaaba—rebuilt many times since #Abraham —sought to symbolize man’s humility before God. Knowing no architectural beauty could reflect the Divine, he chose the simplest form: a cube of stone. In that stark simplicity lay the thought: whatever beauty man creates is unworthy of God; only the simplest conception can best express His glory. Unlike the vast pyramids, which revealed human pride in their scale, the Kaaba’s modest size spoke of renunciation and surrender. Its proud simplicity remains unmatched on earth. by @faris.onceagain

"Sometimes those ancient and great truths about God appear to me like massive, towering mountains — firmly rooted, serene, and unbothered by the general turmoil and disputes, or by the fact that a preacher might have thrown a stone at them! At times, clouds come and cover them; lightning flashes and thunder roars - then everything calms down again, and these mountains, with their snow-covered peaks, stand clearly against the blue sky."

‏“The human soul longs for infinity, immortality, perfection, goodness, peace, and for God. Is this longing not a kind of memory? Does it not reveal a remembrance of a world that is (temporarily) lost?”

“The starry sky reminds humans of their dignity. How can a person, under such a great secret, commit vile actions? How can they not remember? Isn’t this vast celestial dome, under whose halos all that human history unfolds—tragically or comically—pointing to something? The poet truly sees it this way.
.. Pay attention, O human..
.. Do not proceed in a diminished state..
.. Under these stars..”

“The universe is a complete unique entity. Everything and everyone is bound together with some invisible strings. Do not break anyone’s heart; do not look down on weaker than you. One’s sorrow at the other side of the world can make the entire world suffer; one’s happiness can make the entire world smile.”

“A life without love is of no account. Don’t ask yourself what kind of love you should seek, spiritual or material, divine or mundane, eastern or western…divisions only lead to more divisions. Love has no labels, no definitions. It is what it is, pure and simple. Love is the water of life. And a lover is a soul of fire! The universe turns differently when fire loves water.”
