She was born in December.
She died in December.
She loved December.
She found joy in gray skies
She got so excited about snow.
She loved Christmas and everything about it.
She loved her family.
She loved Joey Adams.
She was generous to a fault.
She was tidy to a fault.
Some people can’t sleep with a dirty dish in the sink. She was one of them.
She fed people…thousands of them, over the years, at her beloved Star Cafe in Tennessee and many of them in her home. She was a born entertainer and hostess extraordinaire. She made it look effortless. It was one of her many superpowers.
Her fried chicken was legendary.
She was a wonderful artist, though she never admitted it.
She was a brilliant seamstress.
She had an eye for beauty and the creativity to bring it to life.
If she loved someone, they never had to wonder if she did.
If she didn’t, same.
She had a wicked sense of humor. Often catching people off guard as her subtle and gentle nature belied her sharp wit.
I’m not sure how to feel about December now. It was her month.
I’m not sure how to feel about the world without her in it. It’s so weird.
She won’t send me anymore reels that make me laugh out loud.
I won’t hear her call me Margarine anymore.
I won’t hear her ask if I’m hungry, which from her meant “I love you”.
I have wrapped Christmas gifts I was gonna deliver to her on Tuesday but instead, I’ll be at her funeral on Tuesday, and I’ll be mindful of how much she hated funerals.
RIP my precious sister.

Fiji! You were friendly, hot and very relaxed. Waikiki Beach, Hawaii (for a 36 hour layover) - you were warm, breezy, beautiful, and had me listening to the Endless Summer album on repeat. 2 gigs, 4 countries, 9 plane rides, 13 accommodations, a billion southern stars and I don’t know how many time zones later, we got home last night from our adventure in the southern hemisphere. Unforgettable trip. Thanks again to my incredible wife @farmtunes for booking some awesome adventures in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hawaii. This last month was great for my spirit - loved getting to experience the varied cultures, landscapes, food and people of these very different places. Look forward to hopefully getting to go back, but for now - it’s good to be home! taken in Fiji by @farmtunes

New Zealand…what can I say? It was great to meet you. Beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers and farmland. Friendly people and great food. Lots of wide open spaces, sheep, cattle, and great coffee. Rode bikes in Queenstown, did a fjord cruise in Milford Sound, visited the famous Wanaka Tree, Lake Hawea, Mount Cook, and saw a bazillion stars that you can’t see from the northern hemisphere at the Lake Tikapo dark sky reserve. Thanks to @farmtunes for booking us some awesome adventures and sweet digs, and thanks again to my cousin Tracy for being such a great NZ tour guide. Up next - Fiji. taken in New Zealand by @farmtunes

New Zealand - the expression “pictures don’t do it justice” was made for you. Drove out to Milford Sound on the south-western part of NZ’s South Island to take a boat cruise out into one of the fjords. Pristine and beautiful, with stunning views. Today is Deric’s birthday. I’m so happy he was born. My heart is full of love, admiration, and gratitude for him. This crazy beautiful life of ours is sometimes a roller coaster, sometimes a merry-go-round, sometimes a Ferris wheel, stuck at the top, and sometimes it’s just an all out circus. What ever it is, we ride it together, holding on tight, seeing the magic, counting our blessings. by @farmtunes
