Splendid September Saturday in honor of Architect Kulapat at The Glass House, the late Philip Johnson’s masterpiece, in New Canaan CT. Growing up in Thailand, Kulapat recalled his first museum visit, at age six, was to the Louvre in Paris (which he is now restoring). His first visit to a museum in the U.S. was the MOMA, where what impressed uhim most was Philip Johnson’s courtyard. After completing his PhD in Tokyo, Kulapat worked with Tadao Ando for nine years, supervising all his U.S. projects.

Conversations on culture, creativity, and “museums as sites of empathy” moderated by Pulitzer Prize winning NY Times, New Yorker, and VF architectural critic, Paul Goldberger, followed by dinner for 50, at The Glass House, surrounded by Frank Stella and Warhol paintings.

Kulapat ended the evening:

“No one can have romance with the architect in the room: you have to leave the room”
