POSTS STORIES REELS

Aloha, I’m Shilah Farry. This is Farry Films.

What began as a creative outlet to process grief has grown into something more—part photography portfolio, part journal, part glimpse into my own motherhood journey.

I’m a mama to three little girls, living off-grid in Hawai‘i. I spend most days homemaking, homeschooling, and embracing the rhythm of simple living with nature.

I photograph intimate elopements, mothers, artists, and lovers in their natural beauty, documenting the quiet, in-between moments of this gift of life.

This space holds all of it now: the work, the art, the life behind the lens.

If you’re planning an elopement, or if you’re a mother, an artist, or someone who finds meaning in the mundane—you’re in the right place.

And as always, thank you for being here. 🌿✨️ by @farryfilms

A little lesson in not quitting at her very first market in those "first 30 minutes." 💫

This has been a homeschool project she’s been planning all the way since kindergarten, and seeing it finally come to life is just incredible. Swipe through to see how her afternoon went. So proud of and inspired by my girl today. 🥹🤍

Turning $30 drop cloths into whimsical murals for kids' gatherings. ✨

This was such a fun project! We used Kilz paint to prime the drop cloths (after washing, drying, and ironing them to get all the wrinkles out).

These pictures are mostly color blocks layered with just a few details, which makes them super kid-friendly. We used basic acrylic paint, and I definitely suggest having a roller and a bigger paintbrush for the larger bits of color.

How do you think it came out? 👇 We still have two other finished murals we didn’t show here—a lotus pond and a sakura forest! 🌿 by @farryfilms

Exciting things are coming!! 🤫✨

When I first started out, I honestly thought I had to do it all myself. 🌿 Every task, every role, every single piece of the puzzle. And then I realized something far more valuable than strict independence.

Community. 🤍

There is a truly bountiful harvest when people and businesses come together to share their gifts and hard work. Working alongside fellow mamas, artists, and entrepreneurs who share a deep love for the environment and slow, intentional living and so much more—yet bring their own unique gifts to the table (figuratively and literally!)—has completely elevated my business.

We weren’t meant to do this in isolation. Collaboration beats competition every single time. ✨

And speaking of collaboration... We’ve been working behind the scenes on some very special new projects and in-person experiences that I cannot wait to share with you all. Stay tuned!

To my fellow creatives and local business owners: how has your community changed the way you work? Let’s chat in the comments!

I remember starting this account with zero followers and thinking who would ever trust me with their priceless memories?

It was my own motherhood journey that kept me going through the self-doubt. I wanted to set an example to my three little girls that if we have a dream, we should keep working at it!

Mahalo to all of you who trusted me, such a tiny account, and brought me into the most intimate parts of your lives. Your love stories, weddings, pregnancies, & births! It means the world to me & our little ohana 🥹

So grateful for the lovers, artists, and mothers who have trusted me with their vision and story these past 3½ years.

This passion for telling stories has felt like our fourth child growing up alongside our own—which really meant raising me.

As a child carrying around my film camera excited to document moments that captured a feeling and writing poems to go alongside them, I never imagined I would get to do this for a living one day.

So many chapters later it feels like I'm back at the beginning where all my dreams started. These years have been an amazing foundation and I am so excited about what is coming next.
