The trim on a Heritage FARWA is Al Sadu - the Bedouin weaving of the Arabian Peninsula, worked by hand in narrow geometric bands. In 2011 UNESCO listed it as intangible heritage in need of urgent safeguarding. Too few weavers still held the knowledge.

It is not on that list any more. An Emirati programme documented the craft, trained a new generation of weavers, and built a market for their work. In December 2025 UNESCO moved Al Sadu to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and named the programme behind it a model of good safeguarding practice. Ours is woven by hand, in the country that holds the inscription.

THE WEARER - Tribal elders, traders and royalty wore the same garment. Rank showed in the cut, the embroidery, and the quality of the lining. Nothing on the outside announced it.

THE LINING - Historically, the lining was lambskin, taken in the first weeks, when the wool is at its softest and warmest. It was the marker of quality, and the reason a good farwa lasted a generation. Ours is premium faux suede. The luxury is in the design and the hand, not in the animal.

CLIMATE - Between the Mediterranean coast and the Arabian interior, the temperature falls thirty degrees between noon and midnight. The farwa was the answer. Sheepskin was abundant, the construction was simple, and the design has barely changed since, because it already worked.
