POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Building a resale business rom zero without external funding is HARD. But @nikpollina_ , founder of NY-based vintage designer store @sevenmoodsnyc , has done an amazing job building traction, a loyal customer base, and a crazy-good product selection.

I’m kicking off a new series: women building resale empires 👑

And as the first case study, I dived into how did Seven Moods pulled it off:

1️⃣ Founder’s unique taste.
2️⃣ Successfully building a founder-led content engine.
3️⃣ Organizing pop-up events to create momentum and boost sales.
4️⃣ Hiring help even without having a fixed team.
5️⃣ Making sure each product is 100% authentic.

This weekend, I shipped a feature to production… by myself without knowing how to code.

Designed it.
Had @claudeai generate it.
Implemented it.
Tested it.
Deployed it.

Live in a few hours.

A few weeks ago, this would’ve meant:
❌ finding a developer
❌ explaining everything
❌ a lot of cash 💰💰💰
❌ waiting days

Now? I just build.

And honestly, it’s kind of crazy.

For context: I went from 0 → 6 figures with a product built in a nocode stack.

But THIS feels like a whole new level.

If you’re willing to learn, you can do this too.

AI is completely changing the barriers to building software.

Which means:
There’s now a huge open door to create your own software company.

And honestly—potentially generate a lot of wealth for yourself. 🧡

The dependency on developers is disappearing.

And for solo founders?

That changes everything.

Small team.
Low cost.
Fast execution.

We’re entering a different era 🌸🤖 by @fashiontechfounder

How did @newbalance scale its resale program to 100,000 pairs of sneakers in just 24 months?

I’m back with another deep dive into the business of branded resale. Over the past few weeks, I’ve looked at how brands like @patagonia .

This week, I’ve been researching New Balance Reconsidered.

The momentum is massive: resale is currently outpacing traditional retail by 2.7x (data: ThredUp), and New Balance has clearly noted this. They recently expanded the program from footwear into apparel to meet growing demand.

Here are the 4 key drivers behind their rapid scaling: by @fashiontechfounder

How did Patagonia build one of the most well-known resale initiatives?

Last week I shared @zalando playbook in building a successful pre-owned program of over 400K products,
this week is time for @patagonia Worn Wear.

@patagonia didn’t treat resale as a side project. They built it as a strategic extension of their brand.

Here’s what stands out:

1️⃣ They started early, and made a clear brand statement

In 2013, Patagonia launched Worn Wear and introduced used sections in stores. The message was simple: if our products are built to last, they should stay in circulation.

2️⃣ Moving online unlocked scale

Worn Wear went online in 2017. Since then, Patagonia has sold over 1 million secondhand pieces through its branded resale platform.

3️⃣ The trade-in model protects margins keeps value within their company

Patagonia offers structured trade-in credits (between $5–$200) and resells items at higher price points. Credits are issued as store credit, so value flows back into the ecosystem.

4️⃣ Strict intake keeps operations lean

Worn Wear only accepts products that meet clear criteria. Standardized products reduce grading complexity and simplify listing. This makes resale operationally manageable.

5️⃣ Marketing message “Better than new” strengthens the brand

Patagonia positions used gear as “better than new.” Not because it’s cheaper, but because it’s proven. For performance products, worn-in means tested. Trusted. Durable.

Now, which brand’s resale initiative should I break down next? 👀 taken in California by @fashiontechfounder

The first (and so far only) conference fully focused on secondhand is happening next week in New York, and I couldn’t be more excited.

When I first came across @reconnyc_ I knew I had to be there. Now that it’s booked, I’m even more excited to attend, listen, and meet some of the incredible people shaping the future of resale.

From the founders who helped build the very foundation of scalable resale like @JamesReinhart from @thredup , Sarah Davis from @fashionphile , to those shaping how brands engage with it today — Ryan Rowe co-founder of Archive, to platforms like @ebay @vestiaireco , and @therealreal … the list goes on.

And of course, voices pushing the industry forward, like Mary Korlin-Downs from @allthingsfashiontech and Victoria Smith, whose podcast @fashionandfounders has been a great way to stay close to the emerging U.S. fashion tech ecosystem.

Congrats on @annazgray + team for coming up with such a cool and needed event!

As we continue expanding @oly_platform in the U.S., this is a key moment for us.

We’re building to help premium & luxury vintage/second-hand stores — across Paris, Europe, and the U.S. — connect with a wider audience through marketplaces and new resale platforms.

If you’re:
• a marketplace looking to source secondhand
• a platform working with resale retailers
• or a brand exploring destocking/secondhand opportunities through resale marketplaces

I’d love to connect.

Let me know if you’ll be there 👀

How did @zalando scale its Pre-Owned program to 400,000 products in just 3 years?

This week, I’m continuing my research into successful resale programs from well-known brands.

This time, I looked at what has made Zalando’s secondhand program successful.

The demand is undeniable. 50% of Zalando’s secondhand stock sells within the first 24 hours. For premium brands, the figure climbs to 90%.

Zalando is also expanding its secondhand offering rapidly: The company recently announced the launch of kids’ secondhand across 14 markets.

Here are a few things that seem to make the program work:

1️⃣ Secondhand increases customers’ basket size
Zalando has integrated secondhand directly into its main webstore. This means customers can purchase new and secondhand items in the same order.

And customers are doing exactly that. In 2025, over 40% of Zalando’s orders were mixed baskets, where customers bought secondhand items alongside new fashion or beauty products in a single checkout.

2️⃣ The trade-in model keeps customers inside the Zalando ecosystem
Zalando operates a C2B2C secondhand model, sourcing inventory directly from its customers.

In return, customers receive Zalando credit. This encourages them to spend that value again within Zalando’s ecosystem.

3️⃣ Efficient operations help keep costs low
In 2023, Zalando improved its secondhand operations to strengthen unit economics.

One key change was using existing product data and imagery for items that had previously been purchased on Zalando’s platform. Secondhand was also integrated into the company’s existing logistics operations.

Zalando is clearly a strong example of why multi-brand retailers should enter the resale space. Let me know in the comments which branded resale program you’d like me to break down next! by @fashiontechfounder

For each SMART goal, list 3 daily/weekly habits. E.g.,”Send 3 personalized LinkedIn DMs Mon/Wed/Fri“ or “Track outreach in Notion daily.”

Action Step 5: Monthly Check-Ins
Break goals into monthly targets/weekly actions; review last Sunday each month to adjust and stay visible (planner/poster/phone).

Go send it🔥
