🌍 10 towns. 3 countries. 12 days. 450 people.

Here's the story of how a moving makerspace brought circular fashion and crafts to 10 towns in 3 countries, and 450+ participants.

Last summer, @makeathek 's van, Matty, hit the road. Packed with a tent, tables, a handful of domestic sewing machines, many other tools and materials and the shared expertise of dedicated local partners. The van transformed ten local libraries across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania into engaging community hubs, into circular nodes.

From leftover yarn to „new“ yarn 🧶♻️

We recently joined Claire and Wonek from @tufting_berlin for a workshop together with @hilo_textiles, exploring what can happen to the yarn scraps left behind by tufting workshops and everyday making.

Instead of letting these leftovers go to waste, we went through the entire recycling process step by step, from sorting and preparing the different yarn scraps, to grading and processing the fibres, all the way to spinning them into new yarn.

It was a fascinating look at how much potential there is in materials that are usually considered waste and how they can find their way back into the making process. by @fashrev_de

Noch bis zum 27. September bei COSH!: mach den Feed zu und deine Stadt auf

Kennst du das Gefühl, wenn du zwischen den Kleiderständern etwas findest, nach dem du gar nicht gesucht hast? Genau darum geht es gerade in ganz Deutschland. Auf Vintagemärkten, Flohmärkten und in Secondhandläden, in denen sich das Stöbern wirklich lohnt.

Und wer lieber selbst loslegt, kommt auch auf seine Kosten. In vielen Städten zeigen dir Workshops, wie du Kleidung reparierst, umnähst oder deinen alten Lieblingsstücken ein zweites Leben gibst. Neu kaufen ist längst nicht die einzige Option.

📹 Recap: Our Oil Drip Ritual in Brussels

This summer, we gathered in front of the Textiles Recycling Expo in Brussels – wearing polyester T-shirts coated in a crude oil substitute, standing in silence. Our message: recycling isn't a solution to the plastic fashion crisis. We need a production cap. Now.

🛢️ Why polyester? It's petroleum-based, doesn't degrade, and can be toxic to living organisms.

🌍 Interviews conducted in Ghana on the global injustice tied to the textile waste trade were shared at the action.

💙 What moved us most was standing there together – volunteers who'd never met before, united in silence, holding their ground through a record heat wave, because they believe a different fashion system is possible. That's what collective action looks like.

✊ Here's what you can do:
– Avoid buying plastic clothing
– Boycott fast fashion
– Be mindful of how often – and how – you wash your clothes
– Sign petitions, speak up, unite
– Inspire others and be loud about the systemic change this planet urgently needs
