It was a slam bam thank you ma’am night at 924 Gilman with all the bands performing to keep the legendary performance space alive. Sorry to have missed the 1st band. Got there just in time for Heartless Folks, a totally hardcore band that got the mixed crowd of young and old dancing.
Loved seeing Lynee Breedlove in action and The Homobiles are tighter then ever and Lynee’s between song banter is always entertaining and right on. Having just starting to play the bass for merely creative purposes, I doubt I’ll ever play out, I was ultra clued in on the bass player, who is a joy to watch, as she easily plowed through the tunes. Furleigh is always a joy to watch their proficient skills and they are also in Middle Aged Queers. Middle aged queers ares just pure fun and political and I just adore the lead singer, Shaun. So cute to see his little munchkin earlier bopping around in his lap.
I missed Penny Poundstone and the other dancer, and got back after stepping outside to see Kochina Rude, who is always a delight to see in drag. Kochina is the Narcan Queen. Thank you for giving a short out to Terry Morris for all she has done for the Harm Reduction Community.

I have to say one thing I LOVE about one major thing of 924 Gilman : the politeness of the crowd. It’s always endeared me to this space.

If you’ve never been, PLEASE check out their calendar and become a member for $5 and support this epic music establishment that put Green Day and Bikini Kill and so many other bands on the map.
If you live out of town, it is definitely worth the jaunt to the Bay Area.

As usual, @bratmobile brought the energy and the fans! Gotta love an all ages show where they know all the words and the young ones are so adoring to see a show. I have to say, the kids are alright and POLITE. More so than the older folks that barely move for someone with a cane. Met some nice people as usual. Always do at a Bottom of The Hill Show. Going to miss The Bottom of The hill. I hope they find a suitable buyer that won’t change the format. Alison told some fun stories of past shows there. The sound was perfection. I really dig small shows for this reason. I’ll miss that patio, and the staff for sure. Sweet to see Shane from @theeparkside selling merchandise. Loved the opening acid garage rock of A La Tata, formerly, T.I.T.S. The outfits from Thriftown were classy 60’s hippieish and it surely made us all sad of the local demise of Thriftown. How I miss that place and Clothes Contact, where you bought clothes by the pound.
Go and see Bratmobile if you’re in LA and check out the schedule. They have some great shows coming up. Lookout for A La Tata. Back in the day we went to Sparky’s, or Church Street Station, Orphan Andy’s , Welcome Home … now it’s just Orphan Andy’s 24hours on the weekends. So where to go?? The GRUBSTAKE 🍔They have the best eggs and Linguica , potatoes and green salsa. Check it out . Open to 4am daily. It opened in 1927 on Mason Street .
