Can you really ride your mountain bike when it’s raining in NWA? We’re here to say emphatically: YES! 🎉

Our team has yet again created a fantastic resource for our community to have routes that are rideable in all conditions, are fun, and don’t negatively impact the trails to incur more maintenance. Get out there and explore!

🍂 TRAIL TUESDAY: Rake It Right! 🚵

Leaf season is here in Benton County! 🍁 But did you know there's a right way (and a wrong way) to rake singletrack?

First of all, not all trails should be raked. Hand-built trails like much of Back 40, Little Sugar, and Handcut Hollow should *not* have leaves removed! These leaves help form good dirt as they disintegrate, which we definitely want come spring.

The following tips are for machine-built singletrack trails (such as The Castle and Huntley Gravity Zone) during the fall season:

🌿 5 TOP TIPS FOR RAKING SINGLETRACK

✅ Keep singletrack SINGLE! Rake only the established trail tread. Don't widen it!

✅ Clear the edges. Don't leave leaf piles that block drainage.

✅ Go easy! Remove leaves, not dirt. Protect the trail surface.

✅ Think drainage! Water needs to flow OFF the trail, not DOWN it.

✅ Don't overdo it! Not every leaf needs to go. The goal is a healthy, sustainable trail.

💡 Why does it matter? Proper trail maintenance helps prevent erosion and keeps our trails in great shape for everyone!

Y’all did such a fantastic job marking the course for Little Sugar MTB & we received a TON of positive feedback today about how well it was marked! 👊🏼
But now that race day is over, we gotta clean it all up! We’re going to have a little friendly competition - whoever brings the most race course marking (by weight) to this Wednesday’s @the_pedalers_pub ride will get a super cool prize!! The only catch is that we need you to drop a note telling us WHERE / WHAT trails you cleared so that we can keep up with what is left to be collected, as it all has to be vanished by Wednesday! 💪🏼 race course maps can be found online via Lifetimes website or on Ride with GPS if you need to see which trails were used for each race distance. Good luck & happy collecting! by @fastmtb

Join us this coming Tuesday, October 13–we’re jumping out onto the ever-popular Happy Hour Loop on the Back 40 with @fastmtb for a trail work day.
We’ll be tackling some tread repair and drainage issues to help get the trail in good shape. It’s looking like we’ll even have the extra help of a Trail builder and Machine. All of our volunteer trail work days are totally beginner-friendly; you don’t need to know anything at all about trail maintenance. These are the best places to learn and meet new folks!
