My first attempt at Hive Removal.I was aiming for “Bee Rescue”, but I doubt the bees saw it that way. I searched through the hive, comb by comb but couldn’t find the Feral Queen.Luckily, I was able to save a bunch of Worker Bees and re-boot their colony with a new Domestic Queen ( Cordovan).I’m happy to say the new Queen was accepted and the Colony is now growing and thriving.They might even bring me some honey. 🥃#fatcactusfarm #deepintheheartoftexas #texasbeekeepers #texashoney #honeybees #hiveremoval #beerescue #savethebees🐝 by @fatcactusfarm

This year Balloon turns 25.She might live to 125.We worry about her future in these unpredictable times and we’re eternally grateful to Joshua Tree Reptile Haven for providing Balloon with her Forever Home. Texas weather was grinding her down.Now she’ll roam the California Desert in the company of her sisters, under the care and protection of the Good Folks at Joshua Tree Reptile Haven. They’re a non-profit dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of giant tortoises like Balloon, as well as Native Desert Species.
