That my friends, is the proud , smug and contented smile of a man who set himself a goal and knocked it out of the park!
I don't have too many vices, but I have been struggling with probably one of the more destructive - Alcohol. No day off for years. A bottle of wine. Two. A bottle of beer. Six. "I'm not an alcoholic, just like to unwind of an evening" I'd say. But it was hard to deny it was having a negative influence on my life.
So a month ago, nervous as hell, I told my mate that I'd give him €300 if I drank while we were on a building job. In 42 degree heat, building a wooden home, it was not the easiest time to resist a cold beer. But with money on the line and his support, I finished the job 10 days later alcohol free. Despite some intense personal challenges this month, I noticed my general mood was happier. My brain less foggy. My sleep better. Apparently I stopped snoring! And once I'd made the break...
Well, I now have reached a month dry!! 🥳🥳 And I couldn't be more proud of myself. 😎 So tonight I will celebrate. No alcohol, but a well earned dinner out. I'm not keen to drink again right now... Let's see where this adventure takes me.
Much power and credit to any and all of you that are trying to make a strong positive change in your own lives. If you need an accountability partner, my bank account and tough love is always available! 😁

Today was a good day.

Literally it feels like I drank Harry Potter's luck potion.

Portfolio is on fire
Hiked along the Portuguese coast
Was hosted for coffee by Connor McGregor's head trainer
Had one of the most amazing Brazilian lunches
Spoke to my most beautiful little girl
Watched the sunset over the Atlantic accompanied by some random Belgian guy playing his home made agarve didgereedoo

I am a blessed man, living a blessed life. 🙏♥️ by @father_of_mischief

A belt may be just something to hold your pants up, but I can't help but feel proud of this surprising recognition. Got my first Brazilian Jiu-jitsu stripe for demonstration of skill! 🙏

I'm on a mission to be worthy of a blue belt, so this was an exciting first step.

A dream come true. A bucket list item finally ticked, and one that inspires a whole new direction in life.

Training at the home gym of Roger Gracie, 8x World Champion, is as awesome as it sounds. The level of students, their willingness to teach and encourage, the play and comraderie, and the beers afterwards was better than even my highest expectations.

No-go, straight into Kickboxing, then Gi fundamentals and if I had anything left Gi Intermediate. 3-4 hrs training each day was intense, but the calm and grounded confidence afterwards is hard to describe.

I leave humbled, grateful and inspired and hungry for more.

OSS! 👊🙏 by @father_of_mischief

1 month since Portugal allowed gyms to open back up after people were locked away for their health. You can see how healthy it made me. How has it affected you? Do you need some help to get back on track? To get back to actual health, rather than the opposite? It's ironic that the prime co-morbodity risk for the virus is obesity, the very thing lockdowns virtually ensure.

If you need help, DM me and I'm happy to work out a program for you to get back to feeling alive again. 💪

On my daily discovery adventure, and I'm mesmerised by the sheer variety of fruit this country produces! Might have pinched a few. Might have tasted incredible! 😁 by @father_of_mischief
