2025 was the year of losing weight, of diet culture, of "SkinnyTok", the year of "being skinny is the outfit" replacing "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" as the most ridiculous quote, the year of losing a lot of our role models to weight loss (drugs). The year of lots of people developing or spiraling back into an ED. The year of brands closing their in-store plus size sections and stop selling our sizes. The year of several groups dropping merch that excluded us (fat people wanna protect the dolls and be a part of the womens soccer fanbase too babygurls). The list goes on and on and makes me wanna hide and cry a little.

BUT:

2025 was also the year of someone saying, my show at @lilaqueerfestival was one of their highlights, because it healed their inner fat child. It was the year of the first annual Fat Lake Day in Zurich, the year of so many great exchanges with other fat people. It was the year of me showing off my body on stage, not (only) because I love the attention (I'm a dragqueen, what did you expect 😄) but because I KNOW it's important to see people in big bodies celebrating themselves!

Therefore I decided, that my new years resolution is to stay fat - in spite of all that's happening. Because when you lose almost all your role models, maybe it's time to become one yourself 😌

I love merch I can wear. The amount of bandshirts I've bought in my life is actually on the verge of unhealthy.

BUT: Especially in the past few months, a lot of bands, organizations etc. have dropped merchandise, that was not at all size inclusive.

We're talking S - L size range and fat people having to complain before being included. We're talking about me and my fat friends seeing merch drops and sending them to each other with the caption "I don't even wanna look at the sizes at this point". We're talking about a whole queer and feminist community celebrating a big national sports event but the official shirt being one-size and therefore excluding a big part of said community. The list goes on and on.

This is a big deal. Especially nowadays, with diet culture, Skinnytok, Thinspiration and other BS on the rise, thin people doing the bare minimum - including fat people when planning something like merch - is an act of solidarity and resistance.

And yes, it is that deep. Deciding on who's able to wear your merch, aka who's able to represent you, says a lot about who you are.

This post is meant to be educating and help people challenge their internalized fatphobia - so please help spread the word! 💜

Addition: Of course there's a lot of other things to consider, when producing merchandise but I decided to focus on fat inclusivity here.

Ich liebe Merch, den ich tragen kann. Die Menge an Bandshirts, die ich in meinem Leben gekauft habe, ist schon fast ungesund, wenn ich ehrlich bin.

ABER: Vor allem in den letzten Monaten haben so viele Bands, Orgas etc. Merch rausgebracht, das nicht mal ein bisschen grösseninklusiv war.

Wir reden hier von einer Grössenrange von S – XL, und darüber, dass dicke Menschen erst kritisieren, aufklären und damit (wiedereinmal) gratis Arbeit leisten müssen, bevor sie überhaupt mitgedacht werden. Wir reden davon, dass meine dicken Freund*innen und ich Merch-Drops sehen und sie uns gegenseitig schicken mit dem Kommentar: «Ich will die Grössen gar nicht erst anschauen.» Wir reden davon, dass die ganze queere und feministische Community ein riesiges nationales Sportevent feiert, aber das offizielle Shirt ist „One Size“ - und schliesst damit einen grossen Teil der Community aus. Die Liste ist endlos.

Das ist ein riesen Ding. Gerade jetzt, wo Diet Culture, Skinnytok, Thinspiration und anderer Bullshit wieder präsenter sind, ist es ein Akt von Solidarität und Widerstand, wenn dünne Menschen das absolute Minimum tun, nämlich dicke Menschen bei so etwas wie Planung von Merch miteinzubeziehen.

Und ja, it's that deep. Denn wer euer Merch tragen, aka wer euch repräsentieren darf, sagt mega viel darüber aus, wer ihr seid.

Dieser Post soll Awareness schaffen und helfen, die eigene internalisierte Fettfeindlichkeit zu challengen - also bitte helft mit, das weiter zu spreaden! 💜

Zusatz: es gibt natürlich noch viele andere Dinge, die man berücksichtigen sollte wenn man Merch produziert, aber ich habe mich bewusst dafür entschieden, hier nur über Grössen etc. zu schreiben.

I'M BAAAAACK! 🥳

Hello lovely people 💜 7 years ago I created this account to share my journey to bodypositivity and empower people along the way.

And then I stopped posting (for several reasons, mainly because I'm nad at social media haha).

But with the rise of diet culture and me being constantly filled with fat rage, I decided to reactivate this account.

Also, I won't use the term bodypositivity anymore - because the term has been taken over by the mainstream and we all know what happens, when the mainstream takes over - and also because I've read more about the history of fat activism. Based on that, I'm going with fat liberation 😌

I've got no idea where I am going with this account btw but I'm glad you're here 🥰
