roaming the peaks/diploma project

My multimedia installation “Roaming the peaks” is a hike across a mountain devastated by human activity in order to make us think about what we want for the future of our ecosystem and more than that: our future.

How would it be in several years if we keep going as we do nowadays? That is what the third panel tends to explore, “red avalanche” is standing a dystopia of what the environment could look like in a few years… unlivable, unstable and extreme temperatures, abandoned trash and buildings instead of nature…It use speculative design to turn classic mountain equipment into futurist and unnecessary equipment in order to imagine abusive hikers having an abusive practice of our landscape in order to make us think about which values do we really want and which practice do we want to have of our ecosystem.  These early signs of future gears are made using accumulated waste to suggest that this is all that will remain. Work has also been done on AI because, through exaggerated images, it sets the tone for what this future might look like.

Our future is in our hands and only belongs to us if we don’t want to live in “Wall e” . by @fauhescorp

My multimedia installation “Roaming the peaks” is a hike across a mountain devastated by human activity in order to make us think about what we want for the future of our ecosystem and more than that: our future.

But this calm and beauty is disturbed in the 2nd panel, “Disposable mountains”, which shows how human activity is destroying this environment. At the same time, some of them are useful such as ski-lift, but through the years, since the expansion of mass tourism, mountains have been recovered with various plastic trash and ski-lift. Landscapes still seem beautiful from far but when we take the time to have a look, it appears polluted.
I used trash we often found in mountains, turned them into textile samples to finally recreate a landscape with the help of 3D, which confuses the viewer and questions the true nature of the landscape in order to warn of the climate catastrophe that is already well underway by @fauhescorp

roaming the peaks/diploma project
june 2025

You probably all watched the animated movie “Wall E” produced in the beginning of the 2000’s, that tells the story of a little robot living alone on a planet full of human trash while the humans have gone living in space.
Even if it was produced a while ago, this movie makes more sense than ever nowadays.

Try to imagine a world like “Wall E” but with our ecosystems, because it is probably what is waiting for them. Especially with mountains when we see how they break down because of global warming and human activity.

It is what my thesis is about.

My multimedia installation “Roaming the peaks” is a hike across a mountain devastated by human activity in order to make us think about what we want for the future of our ecosystem and more than that: our future.

The first panel: “From valley to summit” depicts a desirable mountain, precious, various, fragile, wild, sensible, as every mountain practitioner would imagine it. Its goal is to attach anyone who might not be familiar with this environment to it, but also to represent this ecosystem in its whole beauty and preciosity, and make a portrait of the state we love it for.
Through various colors and textile explorations, photography and graphic researches, studies of various scales, this panel try to depicts the whole beauty of mountains with materials, patterns, colors, in order to highlight why we love it so much and how essential it is to preserve it. by @fauhescorp

Weaving, dyeing, screenprinting, sewing, spring 2024

This project combines the skills of weaving and screen printing, and aims to capture the sensibility of a landscape photograph.

Here, a vegetable dyed quilt is created to best convey the colors, shapes and compositions that make up the landscape as a whole.
