Life is best lived when you learn that escaping change will only ever hold you back. Embrace change and trust that the core of who you are will remain truer than ever before.
I used to fear change, this led to failed and/or missed opportunities even past just ‘new experiences’. I became so underwhelmed by what the world had dealt me that I subconsciously rejected the potential of change nevermind the thrill of it. I let myself believe everyone was the same, that there was no room for growth or that I had already reached my full potential as a person. I was wrong, and I continue to let myself be wrong as I grow through the hardships of these changes.
Let the world surprise you, keep your heart open and your soul curious.

Avril is a being of intuition. Though she may not have the ability to tell you a play-by-play of what’s to come, her predictions always seem to be accurate. She’s never wrong about people and their intentions and she came to know this well. However, there came a day, a person, a future she desperately wished she had mistaken. She fought against it, pulling at every thread she could find, convincing herself that fate was nothing more than anxiety dressed as prophecy. The universe answered her defiance with a curse. If she wished to challenge the weave of destiny, then she would spend eternity as its keeper.
Now marked by grief in the form of a silver collar encircling her neck, Avril resides in an obedient twilight, a harbinger of fate who refuses to defy her gift ever again.

There comes a point where healing stops looking like moving on and starts appearing as carrying what has happened with grace. Not every wound is meant to disappear.
I’ve mentioned a few times how Avril’s white accents represent healing, think snow melting away as winter transitions to spring. But I think it is important to remember that while these wounds of the past heal, some may scar. They’re reminders of who we loved, what we survived, and the people we chose to become because of it. The goal is never to fully forget what has plagued us, but to learn how to keep moving forward.
The permanence of Avril’s white markings is a metaphor for not only healing, but carrying on with a head held high regardless of what we may not be able to fully overcome.

It’s near impossible to truly get into ‘who’ Avril is not only as a character, but who she is to me. She was created during a huge turning point in my life as a way to cope with grief. She has become so dear to me as she has always stood as a conduit for all my little woes. That and an anthropomorphized being of my growth following!
I was working as a stable hand where id spend hours upon hours visualizing stories of medieval beasts as I cleaned stalls and paddocks. This took me away from the usual anxious spiraling my mind would default to at the time. The story consisted of a dragon, Lenore, and a Unicorn, Dove. (Day dreaming of unicorns whilst being surrounded by horses was such a phenomenal experience.🙌)
It’s hard to summarize their story as it not only remains unwritten, but most of the headworld was lost in what I’ve discovered to be a huge memory gap that voids the few months where their story was being conceptualized. But returning to it as of recently with a healed perspective has been such a gorgeous way to see my growth! ♥️ I truly believe these two saved my soul even if the escapism they presented was all they were!
Avril was born of these two characters, they’re not quite her moms, but she was born from the stone Lenore turned to, and eroded from the waters Dove became. Her existence is a metaphor for their story. A story in which mirrored my own. I hope to someday share it with you all! I’ve included a small animatic I was working on that I never got around to finishing!
Avril herself, aside from being something I created as a way to externalize my emotions at the time, became a representation of not only grief, but healing after devastation. I’ve gone into this some more in previous posts if you’re interested!

Today marks the second full moon in a single month! This makes it a blue moon! This rare occurrence only happens once every 2-3 years, the next blue moon will be in 2028!
It is called a blue moon not for its color, but for its rarity! (Think the phrase “out of the blue”)

We may or may not have melted our fursuits a little during these photos…oops! (Rowan lost an ear!)
Everyone who knows me knows my affinity for fire. You can totally see my flame tattoo in one of these photos LOL I think it’s so beautiful! While I’d never suggest mixing fursuits with fire (do as I say, not as I do) photos like these sure as hell turn out real cool!

One of the only promises in life is time, our most precious currency. A currency that is so easy to take for granted. This year, I promised to be more conscious of how I’m spending my time. I make sure every day is as memorable as possible and I believe that overall, this has made me a much happier person ♥️

The font I use to add the lyrics to these posts make it look like the word “way” is “man” and that’s making me giggle
I meant to make more drafts to post this week but I got surprised with an emergency surgery so that was an experience! I’m banished back to the partial-suiting realm until I’m allowed to lift more than 5 pounds

ANYWAYS, here’s another lovely photo by @daxyfloof (and a little edit by me to fit this song!) I enjoy using these posts as an excuse to throw lore at those interested so here’s a little tidbit to Avril’s character!;
Crows follow her the way ravens follow wolves on a hunt, flocking to past kill sites in wait for what the wolves may later leave behind. Just as ravens do wolves, crows flock before Avril almost as overseers to the twists of fate she is responsible for.
