There is a place we love so dear –
Its name we’ll ever praise and revere
‘Tis West Virginia State we love –
Just one more step from there is Heav’n above.

Written by Ernest Wade (Class of 1930) and Martha Spencer (Class of 1931).

There is an HBCU that I know that has a wealth of history, West Virginia State University. When I attended and graduated it was West Virginia State College. This was a place I was loved, engaged in many organizations, had the honor of becoming a undergraduate member of my beloved Alpha Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. , the 28th chapter might I add. This place challenged me to always be my best, just as both of my parents and village did at all times. These are apart of my humble beginnings. This weekend created many memories filled with love, peace, compassion, laughter and conversations that were needed at times but with love!! You see these institutions are needed; specially in these times!

One Highlight for me is that my oldest was able to experience this love and truly enjoyed himself. For that God I am grateful and thankful for your traveling mercies for all Alumni!!!
