The quad where we lived between lectures.

The corridors I ran down, late as usual.
The friends who became family.
Some places shape who you become.

This was one of mine, a chapter I'll always treasure, and my life is richer for it.

Recently came across the concept of ‘Glimmers’ on socials: tiny, almost-invisible moments that your nervous system registers as safe, as good, as alive. Not big joy or a life changing moment…Just a flicker: the light comes through the kitchen window at a specific angle, a stranger’s umbrella turning inside out and them laughing, the smell of something cooking two houses over.… depositing these in the journal of my soul… a diary written in sensation rather than words…learning to catch these moments before they dissolve, to hold them just long enough to know they happened…that I was here, that I noticed…knowing there’s still so much to discover 🌸

In my kinda chic era 😉

The kind where you get excited about a new library, romanticise an ordinary Tuesday, change your mind, ask too many questions, explore a new corner of the city, care deeply, and still have absolutely no idea what you’re doing sometimes.

The more I look, the more I realise that the things that make a life feel good are often the smallest, strangest, most wonderfully unnecessary things.

A little about this grand Cathedral ⛪️

When Father Therry arrived in Sydney in 1820, he had a vision…
a great golden church, twin spires rising above the city, dedicated to Mary. He had no money. He had no land. He'd barely stepped off the boat. Two hundred years later, the spires finally went up. They were lowered into place by helicopter in the year 2000.
St Mary's Cathedral was built but really, it was believed into existence…slowly, stubbornly, across generations. It burned down in 1865 (the whole community wept). They started again. The architect was given one brief: "Any plan, any style, anything that is beautiful and grand. I leave all to you." They called it a gift from the poor, because that's mostly who paid for it.
In 2022, my son was baptised here. There’s a picture of us outside the crypt - back then they only allowed 5 of us in because of the pandemic.

I took these shots during this trip to Sydney as we stood outside for some time, just looking, taking more pictures..and remembering it all 😍🥲 by @fayann.loves
