A few things lately have made me realise that community is incredibly important to me. When I started my Pilates business I knew that I wanted to build a community of people who got to know each other, became friends, supported each other and that has very much been the case in our classes. When I was ill recently lots of our lovely members got in touch to send good wishes and to ask if I needed shopping/help/dog walking. A lot of exercise classes are run in a fairly anonymous way or take themselves too seriously. Booking is via a third party, be it the venue or a website with little direct interaction with the teacher. People don't always know their teacher's name when they join and often the teacher doesn't know theirs. When I taught at a gym several years ago people looked horrified when I asked their names in their first class (they got used to it!). Don't get me wrong we take our Pilates very seriously - those who know me quite well know how much training I've done over the years (and that it never ends and our members are always being encouraged to try new things! πŸ˜†) I know all of our members' names (even with perimenopause brain I still get most of them right too, though apologies when I don't πŸ™ˆ). I never wanted silent classes, I wanted them to be fun and for people to be able to get to know each other and to ask questions. It makes for a better learning environment - it's easier to ask if you know you're allowed to talk! Some of my classes go for coffee together afterwards. It delights me. If you'd like to join a class and be part of a community, do get in touch. We'd love to meet you. 😊 www.faybpilates.co.uk/contact by @faybpilates

Consistency is key! Lots of our clients really notice the difference when they haven't been to class regularly versus when they're consistent in their practice. It's why we offer memberships, we want you to be as motivated as possible to attend each week! If you'd like to get moving more and relieve your aches and stiffness, drop us a line to book a taster class - www.faybpilates.co.uk/contact. 😊 by @faybpilates

NEW TOY ALERT!!!! 🀩🀩🀩 THE SPINE CORRECTOR I'm really excited about this one as it's been on it's way for a while. The clue's in the name somewhat. It's a great place to put people if they're stiff and immobile in their backs. It's also a great way to add support and build strength at the intermediate level and add challenge as we progress. As it's the one thing I haven't had I'll be starting to practice on this a lot more myself which means my regular private clients can expect the same...! πŸ˜„ If you've been thinking about trying a one to one class to improve your practice or give the classical equipment a go, drop me a line. 😊 by @faybpilates
After a bit of disruption due to illness, we are back to our usual schedule this week. I'm looking forward to seeing you all. 😊 by @faybpilates
I hope you've all had a lovely week! Looking forward to seeing you on the mat next week! 😊 by @faybpilates
The Pedi Pole (or Ped-O-Pul) is a really fun (and really tricky!) piece of Classical Pilates equipment. It's a very basic construction of a wooden base with an upright pole and a T bar with two springs attached. Despite being simple it's incredibly challenging to use as you have to find the connection in your own body in order to balance against the pole. The more you rely on the pole, the wobblier you'll be. Once you're balanced you can add arm movements and then progress to full body movements like pliΓ©s and progressing to standing on one leg while moving the other leg etc. It's very much harder than trying to coordinate the same kind of actions just standing on the floor because rather than support you (people tend to want to lean against it) the pole forces you to work harder. It is really fun though. πŸ’•πŸ”₯ Warning - concentrating face will occur when using this item. πŸ˜‚ If you've been thinking about trying a studio session get in touch to find out more. 😊 by @faybpilates
