Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I co-wrote with legend @dan.povenmire for “Hamster and Gretel” on Disney Channel, I’d have 2 nickels 🪙🪙 Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice right? 😊✨

Season 2 Episode 2a “Lair Necessities” features the character Kevin reminiscing to Fred (his friend) about the fort they used to have in the woods, and his hopes to renovate it into a secret lair!

Since Dan lives in LA and I’m in NJ, we wrote this song via zoom! Prior to our zoom call, he gave me the general run down of the episode and what he wanted the song to accomplish. Immediately I ran to my piano and landed on some chords and catchy melody for the main theme “fort out here in the woods.” I showed it to Dan once we joined the zoom, and it made it into the song!!! From there we worked to fill in the rest. Between laughs and many off-topic conversations, we had such fun trying to fit the word “nostalgia” in, looking up if “rumpus” was a word, and cheering at how perfectly “marching orders” rhymed with “new headquarters”!

Even though I had written with Dan before, (and even though he invited my whole family over for breakfast and we had a blast), I was still SO NERVOUS joining the zoom call!! I wanted to prove I was worthy of writing with Dan for Disney! What Dan reminded me of (and what I’m incredibly thankful to him for), is that songwriting, even professional songwriting for Disney, is meant to be FUN! The songs we love and jam to are fun because the songwriters had fun writing them. Thank you Dan for reminding me to have fun, and for reaching out to me and giving me the opportunity to serve musical fun to kids, the same way it was once served to me!

Huge thank you to my friends and family who continue to support, inspire, and love me. To everyone else reading this, thank you for following my journey and being a huge part of why I’ve gotten this far in the first place. I share this victory with you🩵

I learned recently that in the Hebrew language, every letter contains a specific energy that when you string them together, they tell you something deeper and philosophical about the word. In the English language, the word “cat” is made up of a “C” that doesn’t mean anything, an “a” that doesn’t mean anything, and a “t” that doesn’t mean anything and the combination of all these letters together doesn’t tell us anything about what a “cat” is physically or what it represents energetically. In Judaism, the word for “Soul” is “Neshama” (נשמה) and the word of “Breath” is “Neshima” (נשימה). They share the same root letters Nun (נ) Shin (ש) Mem (מ) because at the root of these words for “Soul “and “Breath” is the true philosophy of what it means to be alive: As long as we breathe, our souls stay connected to our bodies, and it is this body/soul connection that defines us as alive beings. The moment our breathing stops, our souls detach from our bodies and return to source. As long as we breathe, our souls are attached in order to work together in a partnership with our bodies to complete whatever our missions are! Reading this poem reminded me of this teaching. So, take a deep breath and enjoy being a body and soul combined😊🩵 #poetry #hebrew #judaism by @faychalnick

Turn your “what if…” statements positive! What if it doesn’t work out? Ah but what if it does? What if you trip and fall? Ah but what if you fly? What if today is too much? Ah but what if today is the best day ever? by @faychalnick
