When Layla's husband dies just two months after their wedding, she is completely consumed by her grief. Struggling to hold everything together, she returns to her small coastal hometown, where complicated family relationships and an unresolved past with her first love, Jacob, wait.

But Jacob isn't the same boy he was five years ago, this time he carries a past that Layla is only starting to understand. Yet each time their paths cross, she can't deny the way he still makes her heart race, even when she was certain it had stopped for good.

As buried feelings begin to resurface, Layla finds herself caught between honoring the love she lost and confronting the one she never truly let go of. The closer she and Jacob grow, the harder it becomes to deny the truth—some connections don't fade, no matter how much time or heartbreak stands in the way.

Moving on might mean letting Jacob back in.
And risking her heart again may be the only way it can ever truly heal. by @fayewestbooks

With just 5 days until Hold On To Me is out in the world, I thought I'd share the complete first chapter with you.

This was the first scene I wrote, and that very first line through every edit has never changed. 🥰

I'm so excited to share Layla & Jacob's story with you. 🫶

As I'm wrapping up the draft I'm currently working on, Clark's story is at the front of my mind.

If I'm being honest I struggled a bit with his book. Going back and forth on what I wanted it to be. It's one of the fun parts of the creative process but also a tiny bit stressful to see words deleted that just didn't belong in his story. Sometimes it's being honest and saying this isn't working I need to start over. And so that's what I did, and now the words are flowing. I'm loving crafting this world now, and I'm so excited for you all to meet Clark and Aria next year! 🥰

While I haven't set an official release date yet I thought I'd give what I can for now... the blurb for When the Lights Go Out. You can add WTLGO to your goodreads tbr at the link in my bio. I'll have all the pre-order details and release date info early/mid next year for you all!

And for those asking I'm absolutely going to be including some Layla & Jacob in the epilogue of this book that'll hopefully answer any lingering questions from HOTM (I'm looking at you Alex!).

When the Lights Go Out is releasing in 2027 🏈

1. Never talk to a pirate
2. Never trade with a pirate
3. And, mostly importantly, never make a deal with a pirate

I recently sent out a newsletter to my subscribers (link is in my bio if you want to be added) where I talked all about the inspiration behind COVE. For those of you who don't know I'm born and raised and still live in Northern Ireland. I wrote COVE back in 2021/2022 after I wrote HOTM & it's heavily inspired by my Irish heritage. While I was doing some research for COVE, I ended up learning so much more about Irish pirate history & folklore and, of course, the infamous Anne Bonny. This research actually inspired another fantasy novel but I'll save that for another time.

I've included the Irish language throughout the story, and one thing I love so much is how it feels like you could walk into a home here in Ireland and these people would exist. It's a sort of love letter to my home in many ways, and also to my love of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. My eight year old self would be jumping up and down at the thought of writing this book!

Currently COVE is up for pre-order (ebook only), and although it says October 2027, I'll let you in on a little secret... it's coming MUCH sooner than Autumn next year. I'll be revealing the cover and announcing the release date in January. 🫶

Pre-order links are in my bio 🏴‍☠️🌊

I can't wait for you to meet the crew!
