Football is coming home, and so is FC Mother 🧨 A generation ago I was captain of NYU. We didn’t have a home field within an hours drive. We used to get yelled at for playing pickup in Central Park. And I featured in a Nike film for football nyc because they were evaluating whether to make new investments into nyc football! My my my, what a difference a generation can make. Our Mayor is creating the most thoughtful, innovative, and humane World Cup in history, here in NYC. Because he loves this city, and this beautiful game. Amazon prime’s “the futurist” film on fc mother just dropped its trailer. Shot over 2 years in Brazil, Mexico, and the US. Sharing our origin story, our Harvard lab, my story, and the impulse behind fc mother: a devotion to bring soul, elite science and teamwork to maternal health. I find these reflections on the invention impt: right brain, whole systems, counter intuitive thinking; cultivating deeper truths where the power lies to breakthrough. But I find the soul behind the invention most impt to share as a remembrance: It is absurd that our mothers are not at the center of our social architecture. It is disgraceful that we violate so many mothers. It is dumb that we don’t have the village caring for mothers. It is stupid at this point to sanitize deep fractures and call it something academic like a “pain point”. All of this is upside down. When you learn the science of the “developmental origins of disease,” you see that the civilizational fractures we are living through right now originate exactly at the maternal fracture we inflict on our Mothers. Our secret sauce: 41% behavior change recorded by mass mobilizing fandom to score ‘assists’ for Mothers. Assists are requested by Mothers, then fulfilled by family, friends and fans.
