TESTIMONY TUESDAY!!

Steve Erny, Fruitport Varsity Boy’s Basketball Head Coach

FCA has been a blessing to me and my family over the past few years. Through Huddles, Fields of Faith, Coaches TimeOut, and having a Character Coach in my program, I’ve experienced God’s redemption, healing, and living hope in many ways.

In recent years, my dependence on my Lord and Savior has grown stronger as we’ve experienced the loss of my father to ALS and even my own cancer diagnosis. Without my faith in Jesus Christ and the incomprehensible peace He provides, this recent season of life could have been overwhelming. Plus, God has given me an incredible wife who pours herself out as she serves. 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” God’s divine plan and guidance in our lives is REAL, and His grace is sufficient for us.

My dad followed Jesus. As we begun to process his diagnosis, he said, “My life is not my own.” This was a huge encouragement for all of us, and it rippled out into the community of Fruitport…

Romans 14:7-8, “For none of us lives for himself, and no one dies for himself. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “…You are not your own, you were bought at a price…”

This past summer, after five years of surveillance and care, I can now say I am cancer-free. Praise God! As I enter into my 10th year of coaching at Fruitport, I am so thankful for the platform God has given me as a teacher and coach, and I strive to continue to live a life focused on Jesus and others. To Him be the glory!
