I once read in art history book that the first photographers were opticians. Only those who truly understood lenses and glass could have created the first cameras with the complex system of mirrors, later called "Reflex," which reflected light inside the camera. Imagining these men at work, discovering how to capture an image forever through light, mirrors, and chemicals, made me obsessed with manipulating light. I became fascinated by how light could transform a subject into the most dramatic photo. What I love about photography is that there are countless ways to create an image that isn’t just a copy of reality. The opticians, scientists, and photographers all understood that in their hands was a box to craft their own reality and capture it.
