Dear Older Self,

I’ve been thinking about you a lot over the past year. After years of therapy I’ve finally made peace with what was and now been thinking about what will be. I see glimpses of what you could be and I wonder—
What are you chasing? Are you still in love with the process? Do you still dream? Any regrets? And finally, was it all worth it? At times, I can’t lie to you sometimes I feel lost—in a sense of falling in love with the process can make time a precious commodity. In case you forgot where I’m at, there are two areas that consume my time: I want to help lead a new era of Nike Basketball and be the best husband I can be. Both require time, attention, and sacrifice. But the rewards of both keep me going. Every day I choose what I’m manifesting with hopes that the impact has evidence of divine intervention. May whatever comes next be the result of the commitment to the grind and the sacrifices taken for the marathon. I know the person that started the race ain’t the same person that finishes the race. So again I ask you, was it worth it? 🏁

Happy Birthday Old Man.

You are 35 now. Ironically today is World Mental Health Day. Let’s check in with you. You’ve been laser focused on trying to be consistent, after realizing there really isn’t a such thing as being perfect. You now laugh when people ask what do you do on your “free time.” You ain’t been on here in a minute, let’s celebrate your wins man—You got married a month ago (yeah that married life hits different) / After 7 years working in Sportswear, you work in Nike Basketball now (finally what you wanted) / Still traveling the world (it’s a norm) / Another Air Max Day complete (one more to go) / Took some L’s but I think you are learning what you have capacity for. You are still here. You are still you—only difference is that you know that your value. Whatever is coming your way next, you got this. And don’t forget, have fun while you are doing it—you tend to forget that part. One last thing, you don’t go by DP anymore, it’s DWill now.

Dear @moneyymag ,

Haven’t wrote one of these in awhile, this one is for your inner child. I think that’s one of the most thought provoking things you’ve ever taught me. Inner child you is so present. At first it was awkward, but as time grew on I think there’s a lot of power in that. You love to joke and you love to play. As you grew up, I can’t say for certain that I am the man you initially dreamed of but as I look at the rest of you I can see where I’m needed. Seeing you has helped me see the inner child in me I thought died of neglect. As you turn a year older and continue to evolve, I’ll continue to be there for you and make sure all versions of you have the space to coexist. I love you and Happy Birthday 🥳

They say the best way to look in is get out. Get out of your own box, your routine, your own way...

As I travel for work this time I reflect on my relationship. We hit 8 years today! Well my time at least. By no means are relationships easy but as I reflect I focus on the level of growth. @moneyymag currently is trying to become a green thumb (with some difficulties 😂). And as I told her last week, her impact on all the lives around her is life pruning. She’s a red thumb.

Because of her, I’ve been able to achieve a level of self awareness and growth I wouldn’t have achieved on my own. Just as plants go through stages of growth and seasons, people do too. And I think what I appreciate most is no matter how things get, you never stop trying to water this succulent (me).

I love you and thank you for helping me bloom. 🪴

Story time. 9/5/23

This is my fiancé.
The love of my life.
The fork to my knife.

She loves hard and tends to play hard too. One day we go to ES and find the Spider-Man Jordan 1s for one of the kids in her family and she was so excited. So excited that she wouldn’t let go of the shoes after we left the store. Took them through Costco, through the grocery stores, refused to let them out of her sight 😂. She would do anything for her family and I love that about her. Thank you for showing me daily what love is. Happy Anniversary.

Year 9 🙏🏾🤞🏾 6.17.23

From time to time I replay in my head our last conversation. Till this day I still think about how all you wanted from me was just to see me and spend time. I was too busy blinded by conflict. After seeing The Flash movie yesterday I was reminded of a feeling—what would I say if I could go back to that convo knowing what I know now? 9.25.17 #LatePost

Back in September, 5 years ago, I got my start at the swoosh. I try my hardest to not post about work on here (every once in a blue moon) but lately I’ve really been stuck on the concept of time. I used to be afraid of the future because I had a hard time letting go of the past so I was wasting my present. Let that sink in.

When I think about me 5 years ago, I was so afraid. I quit my job where I essentially hit a ceiling and chose to start over working the front desk at Nike’s gym. 5 years later yal know what I do now but the journey man. The Journey! Been able to see the world, see ideas come to life, make a dream come true that’s been talked about for generations, and most importantly work with some amazing people that have impacted me.

If you are tagged in this post, you have impacted me. You took a chance on a kid from the Inland Empire with nothing but ideas and work ethic. You either: gave me your time, worked with me on a project, inspired me, taught me, blazed a trail for me (🙏🏾🤞🏾), opened a door for me, or simply I’m thankful our journeys crossed paths. Too many people to thank, my bad if you aren’t tagged.

They say we live two lives, and the 2nd one begins when we realize we only have one. 6/17/14 was that moment for me, and Nike is that 2nd life. Jazmine Williams, all of this is still for you.
