By 2035, the world had stopped asking whether machines could think. That question belonged to the old century. The new question was quieter, and far more dangerous: Had something been thinking through us all along? The decade had begun with trade wars disguised as patriotism, sanctions disguised as moral clarity, digital currencies disguised as convenience, and artificial intelligence disguised as assistance. The language of power had changed. No one spoke of empire anymore. They spoke of resilience, interoperability, strategic autonomy, energy security, trusted infrastructure. It sounded cleaner that way. In Washington, the tariffs of the second Trump cycle had fractured global supply chains so thoroughly that even allied economies began treating one another like future adversaries. Every shipment became a political statement. Every chip, every battery, every gram of gallium or cobalt carried the shadow of a flag. In Brussels and Frankfurt, the digital euro was sold as a shield: Europe’s answer to private payment empires, to American platforms, to Chinese state-led monetary architecture. But beneath the language of sovereignty, another logic appeared. The citizen was becoming legible at a level no empire had ever achieved. Spending, movement, hesitation, habit, hunger, fear — all of it could now be patterned. In Tehran and Tel Aviv, the old fire never died. It changed shape. Nuclear thresholds, proxy corridors, drone swarms, religious memory, revenge doctrine. Every ceasefire sounded temporary. Every inspection report read like the preface to a war no one wanted to name. In Beijing, governance no longer meant persuasion. It meant calibration. Social trust, financial access, urban permission, educational opportunity — all bound into behavioural architecture. The Chinese model did not conquer the world by force. It embarrassed the world by working. In New Delhi, they watched everyone and chose no one. India grew, negotiated, calculated, absorbed contradiction like an old god with modern servers. It became the bridge every bloc needed and the rival none could fully confront. In Moscow, Russia no longer pretended to be the future. It became something older and hard by @fdraxis
