Music educators are not only teachers. Many are songwriters, composers, producers, arrangers, orchestrators, music directors, creators of original musicals, film & documentary scorers, and recording professionals whose work is shaping the future of our industry every single day.Please join me in congratulating my friends Franklin Willis, Metro Nashville Public Schools Director of Visual and Performing Arts, and Dee Hammonds, two extraordinary educators whose impact extends far beyond the classroom. They are Telly Award and Emmy Award winners, CMA Foundation Music Teachers of Excellence recipients, contributors to the Every Student Known and Music City High documentaries, and are preparing to release their second @mnpsnashville album, along with accompanying music videos. Their work continues to elevate students, music education, and our creative community.Being able to celebrate Franklin and Dee’s invitation to this year’s Recording Academy Member Class, surrounded by the very students whose lives they are helping shape, alongside Superintendent Dr. Adrienne Battle and GRAMMY Award winner @mrtalkbox, was a powerful reminder that recognition matters. Representation matters. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This song reminds me that God can handle anything that we are dealing with, even mental illness. We can’t get healed if we don’t admit that healing is needed! And there is nothing wrong with seeing a therapist! Maybe that’s the way God chooses to bring healing to you!!! #LetTheTruthBeTold by @fearlessdee

My Mothers’ Day. Mothers’s Day has been kinda weird for about 10 years for me, but 3 years ago, it got weird for both me and Chad. It can be hard to navigate, but when we focus on our children, it definitely brings joy into the heavy space. Today, we went to see the MJ movie. They demanded that we all dress like MJ. Carter protested. 🤣 My kids are really so much fun! I always wanted to be a mother: never imagined it would be to this many children. Never imagined it would be so amazing and hard and life-changing. I’m better because of them. PS. Leslie sobbed most of the movie. Chloe sat and cried throughout the entire rolling of the credits. I wasn’t AS bad, but I wasn’t expecting it to make us feel so down. 😭 by @fearlessdee

I am struggling with this reality! My JUNIOR in high school has worked her tail off and will finish an entire year early and decided to go straight to college early. GOD must’ve known I was gonna be struggling with this so he gave me this gift to calm my nerves. MY FIRSTBORN IS GOING TO MY ALMA MATER!!🥹🙌🏼🤯🙏🏽💙💛And yall. I never even mentioned it as an option. She made this choice completely independent of me! I’m so proud and humbled. This is legacy! And let me brag a little more- homegirl scored a 35 on the English portion of her ACT! 1 point away from a perfect score! She never ceases to amaze me. by @fearlessdee

I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Black History Month concert at Creative Center of the Arts High School under the direction of the incredible Neshawn Calloway! 🎶✨ @choraldivaThe concert was powerful, and what made the evening even more meaningful is that this was the final Black History Month concert of Neshawn’s career before she retires at the end of this school year. What a legacy. 👏🏾🎼I also had the chance to tag team with the @cmafoundation to capture some special content featuring Neshawn’s former students, including her self proclaimed favorite student 😄 @fearlessdee.Bravo Neshawn on the incredible impact you’ve made on students, your school, and the community. Your work has truly left a mark. 🌟While I wasn’t technically your student, I’ve learned so much from you over the years. Happy Birthday Month to me!!! Day 4Today is World Read Aloud Day!!! How appropriate that on the eve of my earthside arrival, I was in final dress rehearsal for a play festival with amazing 10 minute plays written by incredible students.I was also the spelling bee caller all day at school. Well. This Ice storm has reminded me to stay grateful! Things I’m grateful for? Power being restored. 🙌🏼 But when we didn’t have power, I was grateful to be in a house with several children to cuddle with and keep warm. I’m grateful for my life partner, who helped me load up all of our groceries into several coolers to place outdoors to keep them from going bad. Today is National Spouses Day and boy am I grateful that I have a great man to ride out this storm and all other storms of life with. (This isn’t proper grammar but I didn’t want to be so formal) 🤣We hardly have any recent photos together. Most of my photos are of the kids since they have us running all over the city most days! lol. This is the most recent one we’ve taken. Love you Chad Hammonds😘 by @fearlessdee
