It started as a passion project and advanced into something greater. I am very proud of those who helped to make this film happen. The bravery to stand up against major corporations in order to keep our beaches public is evidence of the love for our nation and its people. My hope is to get the word out to a wide audience both near and far. Accolades and recognition was not my ultimate goal. The goal was to make clear the urgency to secure our rights and take back what is rightfully ours.

A special thank you to @hartfelt.shazza and @hazzie79 for helping to drive this film forward and asking the right questions to motivate the activists involved.

It was an honour to work alongside Chris Browne on the cinematography for this amazing feature length Jamaican film. It was long grueling days and tiresome late nights, but we got it done. #redeemedfilm coming soon

Rastafari wasn’t just a spiritual movement — it was resistance.

@UncleRonnie8miles reflects on how Rastas were beaten, arrested, and persecuted for their beliefs and for ganja possession. In response, they made music that pushed back against oppression.

That music carried a message. And that message inspired others — Rasta and non-Rasta alike — to rise, question, and challenge the system.

Reggae was never just music.
It was a message. A lifeline. A warning. A prayer.

In our first episode of Roots as Resistance, powered by @jamaicaforward, @uncleronnie8miles breaks down how dancehall was born from reggae — and how the dancehall space became a place of liberation and Black empowerment in Jamaica.

The sound system wasn’t just speakers and vinyl.
It was community.
It was resistance.
It was voice.

We also dive into the influence of Rastafari and how faith, identity, and culture shaped an entire movement.

This is why we document our stories.
Because culture is not accidental.
It is intentional. It is ancestral. It is powerful.
