Funny how the biggest things can come from the smallest conversations.

I was on the phone with my brother in the UK, talking music, and he said, “You need to check out NBK @nbk.the.lion.king . He’s a young producer and he’s dope with it.”

My team and I flew NBK down to Cape Town and set up a recording camp. I’m from Lagos but I’ve called Cape Town home for over a decade. NBK is from Johannesburg. Different cities, different journeys, same love for music. No pressure, no trying to sound like everybody else. Just two creatives in a room, experimenting and letting the music take us wherever it wanted to go.

That’s how ASIDANSE was born. a blend of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Deep House that we wanted to feel bigger than 3 genres put together. My Nigerian roots, my life in Cape Town, NBK’s Johannesburg energy, all in one sound.

For me, Asidanse is about movement. Dancing through life, even when life isn’t easy.

Thank you @samsonsucre for that random phone call that started it all, and @flipgrfx for the incredible artwork.
