I am so happy to be participating in Frosch&Co’s summer group exhibition titled Good Bunny. It is such a fun show with a great line up of artists and lots of wonderful bunny-related artwork. The show is up until August 15, so if you are in New York City and you love rabbits, then go check it out. I have four Police Bunnies in the show.

I am so happy to be in Galerie Leuenroth’s summer group show titled Twenty.

The show marks the 20th anniversary of Galerie Leuenroth in Frankfurt with each of the gallery’s artists presenting two pieces - one from 2026 and one from 2006, the year the gallery opened.

In 2006 I was monitor for Nelson Shanks’ class at the Art Students League of New York and I had already studied with Nelson for many years in New York and in Philadelphia when I painted this particular color study painting. During that period of time I did a ton of these color studies, working directly from a live model and using Nelson’s full color palette. I kept all of them and I am so pleased that Galerie Leuenroth is presenting one of them in this show.

The other painting is painted in 2026. I am still using Nelson Shanks’ color palette along with many other things Nelson taught me over the years I worked him.

Fedele Spadafora reflektiert in seiner Malerei die urbane Realität New Yorks in seiner unendlichen Vielfalt und wechselt mühelos zwischen Portrait- Landschafts- und Stilllebenmalerei. Der flüchtige Blick auf die Bedienung eines Restaurants, der gedeckte Tisch in der Chinese-Kitchen um die Ecke oder die reqennassen Straßen Brooklvns, müde Fahrgäste in der Subway, Fremde oder Freunde, Straßenszenen und Interieurs - Momentaufnahmen aus der unmittelbaren Umgebung des Lebens- und Arbeitsumfeldes des Künstlers werden zum beachtenswerten Bildgegenstand. Die Detailverliebtheit in der malerischen Wiedergabe steht dabei im spannungsreichen Kontrast zu den vermeintlich beiläufig wahrgenommenen Motiven. Mit lebendigem Pinselstrich und stimmungsvoller Lichtführung schafft er zugleich konkrete unc angedeutete Erzählungen. Spadafora beschreibt seine Technik so: ,,Ich gestalte iedes Bild, indem ich Formen abstrakt verwende und diese so lange verfeinere, bis Figuren und Landschaften Gestalt annehmen und real wirken." Arbeitsaufenthalte in Tunesien lassen seine Farbpalette zunehmend leuchten.

Fedele Spadafora (*1968 in Lansing, Michigan / USA) schloss sein Studium 1990 an der Michigan State University mit dem Bachelor of Fine Arts ab Anschließend lebte und arbeitete er bis 1998 in Prag als Künstler und Illustrator und war Mitbegründer und Kreativdirektor der Twisted Spoon Press. Zurück in Amerika studierte er Malere bei Nelson Shanks an der Arts Student Leaque of New York. Ausstellungen in USA, Europa und Nordafrika folgten. Seine Arbeiten finden sich eber dort in zahlreichen öffentlichen und privaten Sammlungen. Fedele Spadafora lebt und arbeitet in New York, Paris und Hammamet.
