Larga vida al mal es lo mejor que he leído en muchísimo tiempo. Tanto que no me acuerdo. Alix E. Harrow dijo que empiezas este libro riendo y lo terminas llorando, y estoy totalmente de acuerdo, y yo no lloro nunca (y me gustan los happy end). La autora es ocurrente, te hace reír, sobrecogerte, llorar ya lo he dicho, pero bueno, cogerle cariño a los personajes, sorprenderte, sobre todo con ese final. Ese final que me dejó temblando y feliz, pero a la vez desesperada e inquieta. Qué más queréis? Si hay hasta zombies! Cada vez que pienso que tengo que esperar unos meses para leer la continuación me muero. Leed este libro, pero ya.
Perdóneme señorita Brennan por esta insuficiente publicación, intentaré hacer más publicaciones y fanart decente.♥️

Long Live Evil is the best thing I've read in a long time. So much so that I can't remember. Alix E. Harrow said that you start this book laughing and end it crying, and I totally agree, and I never cry (and I like happy endings). The author is witty, makes you laugh, makes you cringe, make you cry, I've already said it, but well, get attached to the characters, surprise you, especially with that ending. That ending that left me trembling and happy, but at the same time desperate and restless. What more do you want? There are even zombies!! Every time I think that I have to wait months to read the sequel I die. Read this book, but now.
Forgive me Miss Brennan for this insufficient post, I will try to do more decent posts and fanart.❤️

Me ha encantado su oscuridad y su magia.
Alex es una protagonista fuerte pero con un gran problema que le ha dificultado mucho la vida. Sin embargo, gracias precisamente a ese desgraciado don que le ha tocado, la universidad de Yale le da una segunda oportunidad. Mientras Alex lucha por sacar adelante sus estudios tiene que vigilar que unas sociedades secretas no se desmadren e investigar un asesinato mientras su pasado lejano y reciente la torturan. Y por esto no fuera suficiente, su mentor, un perfecto caballero moderno, con el que aún no sabemos qué relación mantiene, ha desaparecido y no se sabe si conseguirán traerle de vuelta.
Me he quedado sin aire solo de escribirlo 😝.

I absolutely loved its darkness and magic.
Alex is a strong protagonist, but she has a huge problem that has made her life very difficult. However, thanks precisely to that unfortunate gift she’s been dealt, Yale University gives her a second chance. Whilst Alex struggles to get on with her studies, she has to ensure that certain secret societies don’t get out of hand and investigate a murder, all whilst her distant and recent past torment her. And as if that weren’t enough, her mentor – a perfect modern gentleman, with whom we still don’t know what her relationship is – has gone missing, and it’s unclear whether they’ll manage to bring him back.

Mirad lo que me ha llegado! Bueno, en realidad me estaba leyendo el primero (tengo la reseña pendiente) y fue tal la enganchada que antes de terminarlo me pedí el resto de la saga...

Me encanta. La historia es oscura, con unas escenas totalmente brujeriles, personajes bien construidos, diálogos ingeniosos, un amor prohibido (recordemos que en la época victoriana ibas a prisión si te pillaban con otro hombre, y si no, tenías que desaparecer porque tu vida quedaba destruida), el toque exótico que dan los flashbacks y la cultura china muy arraigada en dos personajes que han pasado allí media vida, los paisajes oscuros y góticos, la forma de narrar de K.J. Charles... ¿Qué más os puedo decir?

Descubrí esta saga por casualidad y qué de gracias que doy por ello. Espero que la autora encuentre una editorial decente, o que la encuentre a ella, porque de verdad que lo tiene todo y se lo merece.

Look what’s arrived! Well, actually, I was reading the first one (I still need to write the review) and I got so hooked that before I’d even finished it, I’d ordered the rest of the series…

I love it. The story is dark, with some truly witchy scenes, well-developed characters, witty dialogue, a forbidden love (remember that in the Victorian era you’d go to prison if you were caught with another man, and if not, you’d have to disappear because your life would be ruined), the exotic touch provided by the flashbacks and the deep-rooted Chinese culture in two characters who’ve spent half their lives there, the dark, gothic landscapes, K.J. Charles’s narrative style… What more can I say?

I discovered this series by chance and I’m so grateful for it. I hope the author finds a decent publisher, or that a publisher finds her, because she really does have it all and she deserves it.

La novela y la película tienen poco que ver. De todas maneras, animo a leerlo. La historia es más o menos la que conocéis, pero con un ritmo más pausado y una prosa impactante que te llega al corazón y que te adentra poco a poco en un cuento oscuro. Las rencillas, la insensatez, la inquietud que termina transformándose en dolor y pánico y el amor en todas sus facetas se abren camino poco a poco en este libro de realismo mágico lleno de situaciones inesperadas. No sonará muy original, pero sinceramente, es mágico.

The novel and the film have little in common. In any case, I’d encourage you to read it. The story is more or less the one you’re familiar with, but with a more unhurried pace and striking prose that touches your heart and gradually draws you into a dark tale. The quarrels, the folly, the unease that eventually turns into pain and panic, and love in all its forms gradually make their way through this work of magical realism, full of unexpected twists. It may not sound very original, but honestly, it’s magical.

Tengo sentimientos encontrados con este libro. Hay acción frenética, planes que se desbaratan, decisiones equivocadas con sus consecuencias, amores que no sabes si culminarán o no... Reino de ladrones te destroza el corazón y te lo recompone. Está muy bien escrito y descubres que ciertos personajes son aún más maravillosos de lo que ya creías, pero estamos en Ketterdam, una ciudad donde lo más importante es el dinero, la venganza y la libertad. ¿Qué podría salir mal?

I have mixed feelings about this book. There’s frenetic action, plans that go awry, wrong decisions and their consequences, and romances where you’re not sure whether they’ll work out or not… Crooked Kingdom breaks your heart and then mends it. It’s very well written, and you discover that certain characters are even more wonderful than you already thought, but we’re in Ketterdam, a city where money, revenge and freedom are what matter most. What could possibly go wrong.

Audaz y trepidante. Si George Miller hiciera una peli provocaría infartos. Una de mis mejores lecturas del año.
Asistiremos a un intento de rescate vertiginoso llevado a cabo por seis almas torturadas. Ninguno de los protagonistas te dejará indiferente, ya os lo digo yo (Kaz, inteligente y retorcido, es maravilloso, pero no terminaréis de ver su maravillosidad hasta el segundo libro).
En cuanto al romance... Ay el romance... Slow burn intenso y delicado que te hace suspirar...
Me ha parecido un libro perfecto, lleno de compañerismo, family found, sorpresas, humor, acción y amor en su justa medida.
Dios la escena del tanque! De las mejores!
Lo recomiendo sin duda.

Bold and fast-paced. If George Miller were to make a film out of this, it would give people heart attacks. One of my favourite reads of the year.
We’ll witness a dizzying rescue attempt carried out by six tortured souls. None of the main characters will leave you unmoved, I can tell you that much (Kaz, clever and devious, is marvellous, but you won’t fully appreciate just how marvellous he is until the second book).
As for the romance… Oh, the romance… An intense yet delicate slow burn that makes you sigh…
I found it to be a perfect book, full of camaraderie, a found family, surprises, humour, action and just the right amount of love.
I’d definitely recommend it.
Wow, that tank scene! One of the best!

Bonito pero final no del todo satisfactorio.
Nos encontramos ante un spin off de Orgullo y Prejuicio que sinceramente comienza lento. Pero poco a poco la historia, la protagonista, Mary, y la prosa de la autora florecen y se vuelven cada vez más bellas. Si es verdad que al principio me enervó que retorciera demasiado ciertos personajes y situaciones, pero si sois fans de Austen estoy segura de que disfrutaréis este libro.
En cuanto al final no es que esté mal, de hecho tiene cosas muy buenas, pero me faltó algo que no voy a decir para no spoilear.

A lovely book, though the ending isn’t entirely satisfying.
This is a Pride and Prejudice's spin-off that, to be honest, gets off to a slow start. But little by little, the story, the protagonist, Mary, and the author’s prose blossom and become increasingly beautiful. It’s true that at first I found it a bit irritating that she twisted certain characters and situations a bit too much, but if you’re Austen fans, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the book.
As for the ending, it’s not bad – in fact, it has some really good bits – but I felt something was missing, which I won’t mention so as not to spoil it.

Estoy muy contenta porque en el Celsius he conocido a muchas escritoras que me gustan desde hace años, entre ellas Juliet Marillier. Cualquiera que me conozca sabe que la fantasía celta me pierde, y creo que Marillier es su máximo exponente. Publicó en el dos mil y poco a los 50 años por primera vez en su primer intento, sin conocimiento alguno sobre escritura (chapeau, me quito el sombrero), así que se ha convertido en uno de mis ídolos y estoy deseando que Duermevela lo publique todo sobre ella.
Es una mujer encantadora.

I’m absolutely delighted because I’ve met at the Celsius so many female authors whose work I’ve admired for years, including Juliet Marillier. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge fan of Celtic fantasy, and I think Marillier is its finest exponent. She published her first book in the early 2000s at the age of 50, on her very first attempt, without any prior knowledge of writing (hats off to her!), so she’s become one of my idols and I can’t wait for Duermevela to publish everything about her.
She’s a lovely woman.
