THIS IS WHY I READ ❤️‍🔥😮‍💨 The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games books) 🌲🌲🌲 *NO SPOILERS

This author always gives me something to rage about! I couldn’t stop annotating and was up late last night writing it all down! I couldn’t wait to share everything I took away from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Given the state of the world right now, I needed to share my disbelief and anger. To those who watch from start to finish, I adore you 🌹🐍🪶

🕯️SOMETHING OFF THE SHELF 📖🖤🌙 The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games series) 🐍🪶 || “Wars are won with heads, not hearts.” - Oh the irony of ignorance. For it’s the ones who swear to know best who know nothing at all 😒

Summary: 🌹
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows a young Coriolanus Snow who wears the mask of an elitist but behind closed doors he’s no better off than those starving in the Districts. Failing to see his predicament as a lesson in empathy, the future tyrant of Panem plunges deeper into paranoia and cruelty.

💛💚 BOOK SPOTLIGHT 💚💛 The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes 🐍 by Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games series) 🪶🌲 WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE IN THE SERIES?!

I’ve been meaning to read The Hunger Games prequels for a while, and with “Sunrise on the Reaping” coming to theaters in November, I felt I had to pick this up. I did see the film adaptation of this particular prequel but I’m already enjoying the book way more than anticipated.

🌙 One of my favorite moments from The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig 🖤✨ it painted such a clear picture in my mind. Her writing is evocative that way.

HEADPHONES ON 🎧 Volume UP ⬆️ it really makes a difference 💚

Trying something new, Bartholomew 🥰 I’d love to know what you think! But I’m going to play around with my content and hope for the best. I love reading aloud and I think a new format could be fun!

To feel often trapped, powerless is harrowing and lonely. But it’s when I’m most afraid and unsure that the universe is her loudest. She’s reassuring, telling me to put my trust in my power to persevere. I hope this story also offers you some reassurance because it feels like life is ominous for most right now. And as I strive to love myself the hardest in the dark, I send you much love to help you on days we all struggle to find the moon. 🌙 🐦‍⬛🪶✨

@lbardugo You wrote a series about six kids—moored to a bleak and loveless city who learn to swim, to trust, and forgive. It was friendship, a found family that revived their beaten hearts. It’s alchemical, the hope they find in each other, curative. I want you to know how often it revives me, how often it has cured my despair and resignation. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for these characters who keep me brave, fiercely loving, and focused. ❤️‍🔥

Nothing ever changes, if you won’t 🌹✨🖤

Books will send you to war, and frankly I wouldn’t have it any other way. Even through the storm of uncertainty, it’s clear to me that there’s no going back . And what a beautiful feat it is to fly so far you wouldn’t dare turn around. Look forward crows, remember that the magic lies ahead. 🪶🌅🍂

🌼🖤 BOOK REVIEW 🖤🌼 The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig (Book 2 of The Stonewater Kingdom) 🌙 🏰🤺🌹🦋 || *SPOILER FREE

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I adore anything and everything written by Rachel Gillig. The Knight and the Moth is a perfect book. It’s perfect…In its prose, in its message. The Knave and the Moon? Book 2 has its cracks, it’s imperfect and maybe that’s appropriate or poetic even given the major themes. There is beauty to admire in imperfection, and while something didn’t work for me, there’s no denying the talent this author possesses. Bartholomew will live on as one of my favorite characters of all time! 🥹

Summary: 🌲🩶
Sybil Delling has been taken captive and named the unwilling bride of someone who was supposed to be her friend. To commemorate this non-consensual union and conjure faith in The Stonewater Kingdom, her captor hosts a tournament, which the man she truly loves enters!
