💚 FEED Bins are our multi-farm, weekly fruit & veggie box featuring in-season, regeneratively grown produce. Most of the items come from farms right here in Sonoma County, but we also partner with some incredible farms in the greater bioregion to round out the boxes and help support diversity year round.

🥕We source from local farms, many of which are cooperative owners at FEED! Produce for the boxes is harvested to order, making it as fresh as can be and nutrient dense. Most items are delivered within 48 hours of harvest! We want you to feel good about the food you eat, which is why we carefully vet and wholly trust all our producer’s farming practices.

•We have two box sizes available:
✨Small: 8 - 9 items
✨Large: 10 - 12 items

🌱We offer both weekly and biweekly subscription options. You can also choose to order manually if you need more flexibility.

🤝We’ve partnered with businesses throughout Sonoma County, Marin, SF and the East Bay, who host box pickups. We also offer home delivery. Check out the link in bio for the full list of pickup spots with their day & time options, as well as any delivery fees associated.

🍓 We have a full page on our website with more info, including what’s in the boxes that week, all your FAQ’s answered and instructions on how to get started! Check it out to learn more.

An apple a day… taste-tested by NVUSD students! 🍏✨

This November, we are celebrating Harvest Of The Month with the ultimate fall favorite: Apples! We are so excited for students to taste-test some incredible, crisp varieties grown by our local organic farms:

🍏 Granny Smith – Crisp, tart, and full of tang from Devoto Gardens & Orchards in Sebastopol, CA @devoto_orchards
🍎 Pink Lady – Perfectly sweet with a crunchy bite from Filigreen Farm in Boonville, CA @filigreenfarm
🍏 Wickson – A unique, sweet-tart heirloom mini apple also from Filigreen Farm

Also featured is our NOSH made tomato soup with grilled cheese, available on the menu this month! Thank you to our amazing F.E.E.D. Cooperative @feed_cooperative for connecting us with local produce and providing such high-quality fruit for our students to discover. Which variety will be the student favorite? Stay tuned to find out!

It really does! Even if just some of your food comes from local farms, that investment is helping those farms to build, continue growing in your area and train the next generation of farmers.

We see consolidation all around us and not just in agriculture. But when we support our independent local farms and the local food hubs supporting them, we know that it:
🍎Creates a more resilient food system
🥕Maintains diversity in our food supply
🍋Supports the local economy
🥦Lowers our carbon footprint
🫐Increases access to nutritious food
🍆Keeps our food system transparent
(just to name a few)

At FEED, we envisioned a different model from the beginning and built a business with our values at the core. FEED has grown throughout the years because our model works and because of all the people who also believe that local food matters. We are farmer- and worker-owned and committed to building a positive future for local farming!

Buy local when you can and share about FEED with your community!

🤝 Happy National Co-op month! FEED is proud to be a farmer and worker-owned co-op since 2020!

The theme of this year’s Co-op Month is “Built for this Moment,” because in the face of uncertain and changing times, cooperatives offer a powerful, unique and valuable model!

For us this includes supporting local farms by giving them a voice and agency in the business itself, building a sales and distribution model that actually works for their type of farming, and putting profits back into their pockets! Their success is FEED’s success! As a multi-stakeholder cooperative, we see our food hub staff as essential to the success of the small farm movement in Northern California. By centralizing marketing and distribution, we are working together to fortify our industry.

🌟 FEED Co-op fun facts:

🥬 FEED is currently owned by 34 farms and 9 workers.

🥕 We were the 1st multi-stakeholder fresh produce cooperative in California and continue to grow each year.

🍎 By coming together as a cooperative, the critical mass of local farms collaborating enables FEED to reach new and bigger markets, thereby strengthening the power of our local food system.

🍋 As a cooperative, we make important decisions collectively and our democratically elected board is equal parts farmer and worker. Yay for democracy in action!

Co-ops are cool y’all!

🤝 Fresh baked bread and fall ingredients were made for each other! The perfect pairing is a loaf of bread from @redbirdbakery and a box of fruits & veggies from local farms from @feed_cooperative. Weekend customers of the FEED Bin (a multi-farm CSA box) can add bread loaves, English muffins and chocolate chip cookie dough to their weekly orders!

Red Bird Bakery knows how to make great bread, from beginning with their artisan starter to hand-shaping each loaf before baking at a high heat to achieve their signature crispy/crackly crust and fluffy interior.

FEED also sells Red Bird Bakery’s chocolate chip cookie dough (perfect for this cozy season) and their fluffy English muffins (veggie breakfast sando anyone?).

Fall is the perfect time to enjoy fresh bread and baked goods, so be sure to add some to your weekend FEED Bin order this week!
