My homie @w.a.g.l.e shipped me these Gigi Mambacita Kobe 8s and asked me to turn them into some @naruto Shippuden customs.

Mind you, I knew absolutely NOTHING about Naruto, let alone what Shippuden even meant. 😂

So before I even touched these shoes, I spent a week researching Naruto and Sasuke, learning their backstories, understanding their rivalry, and trying to make sense of the anime series.

Throughout the process, I learned about the Nine-Tailed Fox (Kurama), the Rasengan, Sasuke’s Susanoo, the Hidden Leaf Village, and the Uchiha clan crest.

Oh, and I finally figured out why @liluzivert was randomly saying “Sasuke, Sasuke, Sasuke” in that song. 😂

I went from knowing absolutely nothing about Naruto to trying to tell the story of two of its most iconic characters through a pair of sneakers.

So to all the Naruto fans out there, if I missed something or didn’t get every detail perfect, PLEASE don’t hurt me! 😆🙏

My pair of db6s have seen better days. Tried to reach out to a few restoration artists but they’re either busy or don’t respond back. 😭

@slicktalktony I’ll never forget how I first met you and @chefdarnailarue. I was 13. Y’all came to my school, balled us up, then vanished into the air. I wouldn’t see you guys until we got into high school that year. 23 years later, you commissioned me to do this project. You came through to check out the final product. You said you were short on dough but you’ll hit me back. That was over 10 years ago. 😆😆😆
Over 10 years @slicktalktony. Look at the date on the first clip. You sent me these that long ago. But you kept your word. And I held them as you asked, and refreshed them before sending out. I’ve gotten better at my craft too after a decade. To say you, Darnai and I have a long standing friendship is an understatement. I’m honored to make this pair for you. You were always ahead of time in fashion. They’re just now rereleasing the air tech challenge while you had these a decade ago.

You’ll see 5/4 sprinkled throughout the custom like the domino falling, the dice rolling & homers jersey paying homage to his crew 54Ayes. You’ll see several 90s references like the tribe called quest theme on the heel collar, neon colors, geometric shapes, air mag strap & coogi print tongue.

I love you like Kanye, love Kanye.
The fact that he made a song trolling himself about his own mood swings was enough for me to get a pair of cream Yeezys and make a “I Love Kanye” themed custom. This side is Kanye’s uphill projection from wearing pink polos, black leather pants and bred 1s, 808s Kanye with the herringbone suit, and the dropout bear from Graduation. I waited nearly a decade now to uncover his progression since then. Now I can work on the other side. Imagine holding on to a pair of shoes for a decade just to complete the other side. Tag a sneakerhead that needs these custom Travis Scott lows for their toddler! @shaunadionne_ and I ran through several different base pairs but all that research led us to some amazing results! After finding an icey sole bottom, I was able to match the upper with a custom bubblegum sole dye that I created to finish off the look. It’s crazy to know these little guys were so much harder to make than a standard pair of shoes because of the intricate details. I could barely get the insoles to fit because my hand couldn’t reach in far enough! 😂 Bubble gum sole dye preorder coming soon yall!
