Who Might You Be?

Sometimes, sitting and looking up at the sky, I wonder

Who might he be?
Where might he be?
The man who will be the love of my life.

Will he be as broad as I imagine?
Will he be as tall as I picture him?
Will his eyes always wander through the crowd,
just to find me?

Will he be mine, as I wish?

The love, the care, the affection I crave.
The time, the attention, the touch I long for.

Flutter, flutter goes my heart
just by being around him.

Peace and happiness—
that’s all I feel
when I’m with him.

Maybe he is someone new.
Maybe he is someone I already know.
Maybe he has already fallen for me.
Maybe he is just waiting
for me to fall for him too.

I wish him to be my friend.
I wish him to be my cozy place.
I wish he would be mine alone,
while still being his own person in the world.

Someone to call mine—
that is all I wish for.

Someone who would cheer me on
and tell me to move forward in life.
Someone for whom I can be a support,
and who can be mine too.

Someone who wishes for my better future,
while I wish for theirs.

Not someone to complete me,
but someone to walk beside me.

Someone whose presence feels like home.
