🇱🇰 A due passi da Galle, a #Unawatuna, si trova @voda.center, un hotel immerso nelle mangrovie e lontano dalle zone più turistiche.

A Once-in-a-Decade Spectacle: The Nelu Bloom at Horton Plains 🇱🇰💜

Nature just hit the “refresh” button in the most spectacular way. After years of dormancy, the legendary Nelu flowers (Strobilanthes) have finally blanketed the highlands of Horton Plains, turning the misty grasslands into a sea of purple and gold.

To see these flowers in person is to witness one of Sri Lanka’s most elusive natural cycles. These blooms don’t happen every year—some species take up to 12 years to show their face. My camera roll after a week in this incredible country 🪷📿💭

Spent my first week doing Panchakarma at @suvarivi_resort an ancient Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation therapy designed to remove deep-rooted toxins (Ama) and balance the body’s three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha 🌺

The first time I did this detox it was in Kerala 10 years ago and it completed changed my life. So when @noellerachow said she wanted to come here to do it I obviously asked if I could join her 🙋🏼‍♀️

Between treatment sessions, yoga classes and swims in the most gorgeous pool overlooking the jungle, we also explored a little bit our surroundings and fell in love even more with this place if possible 🤍

But our slowly days in paradise are coming to an end soon and real trip will finally star, can’t wait to see what Sri Lanka has in store for us in the coming weeks 🛺✨

🚂 Il treno che attraversa le montagne dello #SriLanka, lungo la tratta Kandy–Ella railway, è uno di quei viaggi da fare almeno una volta nella vita.

☕️ Costruita in epoca coloniale per collegare le piantagioni di tè al porto di #Colombo, oggi questa linea è diventata una delle esperienze ferroviarie più iconiche al mondo. Il tratto tra Ella e Kandy attraversa colline verdi, villaggi, cascate e scorci incredibili.

🫡 Dal punto di vista pratico esistono diverse classi, ma non tutte offrono la stessa esperienza.
La prima classe, con aria condizionata, può sembrare la scelta più comoda, ma in realtà ti “isola” dal viaggio in quanto i finestrini chiusi e hai meno contatto con l’esterno. E considerando che il clima sugli altopiani è già fresco, spesso non ne vale la pena.

👌🏼 La scelta migliore, secondo me, è la seconda classe con posti riservati, soprattutto per i finestrini apribili.
