The most memorable fall evening. 🍂 Feel Well Do Good is all about doing the things that help us feel our best, so we can show up and do more good for our families and communities.🤍 I’m continually in awe of the way these women show up for themselves and each other. Being surrounded by women who inspire you to be your best is such a gift. Iron sharpens iron.✨ A huge thank you to @terrainpilates for the most beautiful post-hike Pilates class in nature! See pinned post for the next event! by @feelwelldogood

Hard to put into words our recent retreat to Sedona. 🤍 A group of incredible women came together for a few days of adventure, connection, and filling our cups.

I’m pretty sure Mother Nature decided our retreat theme needed to be SURRENDER. And honestly, what an important life lesson that turned out to be.✨

We showed up with a perfectly planned itinerary, but the weather had other plans. Rain! And LOTS of it.😅 Thankfully, we had a group of women who were all on the same wavelength and completely down to pivot.

We ended up changing most of our hikes to stay out of flood zones, but I’m convinced it all unfolded exactly how it was supposed to. We chased waterfalls, witnessed rainbows, soaked in the most dramatic and beautiful skies, and embraced every unexpected adventure. We even found ourselves running for our lives when a thunderstorm rolled in directly overhead. A core memory none of us will ever forget.🤪

And somewhere in all the unexpected changes was the reminder that we don’t always have to control how things unfold to experience something beautiful.

Our days were filled with hiking, delicious food, Pilates, shopping, swimming, hot tubbing, meaningful conversations, lots of laughter, and the kind of connection that leaves you feeling filled to the brim.

It wasn’t about everything going according to plan. It was about being present, embracing the unexpected, and sharing it all with women who made every moment better.

So incredibly grateful for every woman who showed up with an open heart and made this retreat something we’ll always remember. My cup is overflowing.🤍

And a HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed, supported, and helped make these few days so special! I’ll tag the incredible people who helped bring it all together below. 🤍

This is the norm now. Adventures unlimited. Kids outside. Everything in its right place. ✨️

...

Show them the pulse of nature. Show them why movement matters. Show them what it feels like to stand on a summit they earned with their own legs and might. Show them that the best views are rarely the easiest to reach. Show them how to connect. Show them how and why to gaze at the stars. Show them how to be good stewards. Show them how to stand in awe of a sunset and a sparrow. Show them how to fuel and take care of their bodies, minds and souls.

Show them.

THE “MY KIDS HATE HIKING” GUIDE

How to make your kids actually want to go outside again and fall in love with movement in the great outdoors:

1. BE PRESENT, NOT DESTINATION OBSESSED.
The waterfall isn't the point. The summit isn't the point. Go at their pace. Stop for the weird rock. Explore. Turn around if you need to. The goal is memories, not mileage.

2. HOLD THEM.
They get tired. Pick them up. Carry them. Sit down and give them a long hug. Some of my favorite trail memories are just holding my kids. They won't always fit in your arms.

3. MAKE IT FUN.
I Spy. Bug hunts. Critter counting. Weirdest rock contests. Rock throwing. Find something red. Make up games. The trail is the playground.

4. CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE.
Cold? Bundle up. Rain? Get wet. Puddle? Jump in it. Mud? Send it. Kids learn how to experience the outdoors by watching us. Parents set the temperature.

5. SNACKS. ALWAYS.
Water. Snacks. More snacks. Don't wait for the hangry meltdown.

6. BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES.
Someone is getting wet. Someone is getting muddy. Bring extra socks. Trust me.

7. LET THEM LEAD.
Let them pick the trail, carry the map, choose the game or decide where to explore next. Give them ownership.

8. DON'T TURN IT INTO YOUR WORKOUT.
Forget your pace. Forget your mileage. This isn't your training run. You're Dad.

9. LET THEM TAKE AGE APPROPRIATE RISKS.
Climb the rock. Cross the log. Get dirty. Let them discover, “I can do hard things.”

10. KNOW WHEN TO CALL IT.
You don't get a trophy for making your kid miserable. Turn around. Come back another day.

The goal isn't to conquer the trail.

The goal is to raise kids who want to come back.

They may not remember the waterfall.

They'll remember being carried.

Getting soaked.

Eating snacks on a rock overlooking a fire sunset.

Laughing with you.

And most importantly, how being outside and making memories with you felt. taken in Utah, USA by @feelwelldogood

Never really been into dinner and a movie.

Maybe we’re missing out. 🤷‍♂️

But trail dates? Undefeated.

There’s something about sending it up a mountain at sunset with your person. Doing something hard together. Laughing, suffering, encouraging each other, then standing on a summit knowing you earned it side by side.

Shared effort hits different.

Because the best part isn’t always the summit. It’s becoming a stronger team on the way there.

A vibe, if you will. ✨

Bottom line: date your spouse.

Protect the marriage. Keep choosing each other. Keep doing hard things together.

Because a strong marriage isn’t just a gift to yourselves. It’s one of the greatest things you can give your kids, too. by @feelwelldogood

Little ol’ me had no idea what her potential even looked like. Not a clue. But I married someone who saw it before I did - and he has never stopped cheering me on.

Hold on tight to the people who believe in you like that. And give that same belief right back. Beautiful things happen when two people call each other higher. 🤍 by @feelwelldogood

Our secret sauce… training together. 💪🏼🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️

All those gym and trail dates add up to more connection, more opportunities to encourage each other, more resilience built through doing hard things together, and so much shared growth.

The benefits we’ve experienced have served our marriage in such a beautiful way. If this speaks to you, grab your partner and find a way to train together - however that looks for you. 🥰

Thanks for being my ride or die @stevendeewrigley 🤍🤍🤍 by @feelwelldogood

I think we owe it to our kids to fully send it.

They deserve a hero. A steady leader. A present, grounded soul who models what adulthood can look and feel like in spite of all the stress and weight of this world.

A parent who brings them into shared hobbies and family adventures. A teacher who doesn’t just instruct, but one who LIVES it.

You want them to know discipline?
Be disciplined.

You want them to be brave?
Be brave.

You want them to do hard things?
Do hard things.

You want them to be healthy?
Adopt healthy habits.

You want them to foster healthy relationships?

You want them to learn and grow?
Learn and grow.

They are watching.

So give them someone worth watching. by @feelwelldogood
