This quilt of mine, Bird's Eye View, was selected to be in a special exhibit, Stitched States: 250 Years - A Quilted Map of Our Nation, at the 2026 International Quilt Festival in Houston from November 12 – November 15, 2026. They chose one quilt to represent each state--very happy they chose mine. Each block is a window onto sea/sky scapes. The narrow light shape in the center represents the way the cape extends out into the ocean. #modernquilt #modernquilting #artquilt #SAQA #quilt #quilting #quilts #capecod by @feitelsonann

Here are my quilts in the Swiss magazine “Patchwork Professional.” @patchworkprofessional

The headline says, “For me, everything revolves around color. For American artist Ann Feitelson, color is a journey and a transformative, blissful experience—both when viewing it and when creating it.” (I did not write the headline.)

I have no idea how the rest of it reads. I wrote it in English and they translated it. They cropped several quilts. But it’s very nice to be recognized and published. Thank you to everyone involved!

This is my most recent quilt, Cupside Down (62" x 66"). It belongs to my ongoing series of cup quilts. The cup appeals to me as a basic building block: a common object, close at hand, that takes something in and holds it. Here the composition is split into opposites. One half is pink cups on blue-green; the other is turquoise cups on pink, a reversal that suggests yin and yang, or left brain and right brain, while playing with up and down, left and right, and strong contrast. I love playing with opposites like right side up and upside down, thinking of Monet's waterlillies and Picasso's Girl Before a Mirror, a painting I copied in an art history class when I was a senior in college--it stuck with me. I'm not entirely sure of my motivations for working with dualities--is it about the dark side, the things we don't know, or the opposites that may also be as true as their converses?

There’s been a change in the hours my show is open. It’s closed from now until Tuesday Feb 10. The school has a long weekend which I only learned about today. But it will be hanging for a few extra days, until Feb 13. (Original closing date was Feb 11.) So it will be open Feb 10-13, Tuesday through Friday. #quilt #quilting #quilts #modernquilt #modernquilt #modernquilting #quiltsofinstagram by @feitelsonann

This is a reminder that there will be a make-up opening (not sure what else to call it), this Saturday, Jan 31, 10:30-noon. It snowed on Saturday Jan 17, the original opening date. Some folks made it, and I was happy to see them; others stayed home understandably. For those who couldn't make it then, I will be at the gallery this Saturday from 10:30-noon. And whoever wants can come along to lunch out in Easthampton. by @feitelsonann

Raspberry Lime Rickey | 2022 | 42" x 48"

The kaleidoscope block creates illusions of curves and disappearing circles a lot like the way bubbles burst in fizzy drinks.
