Soft Side is out October 9, and before anything else we wanted to tell you about the cover.

It all starts from an old mattress, the kind nobody sleeps on any more, left out on the street. A mattress is the softest and most private thing in a house, where you sleep and dream and get sick and cry, and one day it ends up on the pavement in front of the neighbours, where anyone can see the stains. That, more or less, is the whole record: the softest part of you, left outside, where you never wanted it to be.

Feldspar - Heart Is A Ghetto (Official Video)

Heart Is A Ghetto is about the walls you put up when the world gets too loud. Between the endless scrolling, the noise, and the people who turn out uglier than they first seemed, your heart becomes this small, overcrowded place you’re terrified to let anyone into. It’s not pride — it’s self-defense. The song lives in that tension: wanting to let someone close, and being sure they’ll tear you apart.

Soft Side, the title track. It's about the moment someone sees through all the armour you've been wearing and pulls the mask off, and you find you don't want to hide any more. The whole record grew out of that feeling.

Last January we left Rome for Flemington, New Jersey, and put these songs in the hands of @communityoflivingthings at @theanimalfarmnj, with @alanxday right there in the room and @birdman28 of @drugchurch on drums. They pushed us to be more physical and more honest at the same time: keep the hooks, but hit harder.
