Long time no post ... 😅 I kind of almost forgot about this app, probably because the last semesters have been packed with lectures and until now, I haven't got much time to take a breather and rest. Besides, social media (luckily) really isn't a priority for me anymore.

I did draw a few sketches though (that I forgot to post until now, oops), but nothing more than that. I hope things will get better in the next months, I'd really like to have at least a little more free time to draw or sew (don't study Maths (or maybe STEM in general) at uni if you value your free time).

A rough sketch I started working on a few days ago while I felt like an emotional wreck. I'm recovering and feeling better now that some time has passed, but I still want to turn this idea into a bigger traditional piece.
.
Honestly it just feels refreshing to draw something more emotional than my usual art works ... I think creating vent art even has a salutary effect (as long as I don't overdo it) because it allows me to truly feel and understand my emotions instead of judging them and pushing them aside without properly processing them.
At the moment, I'm unsure if I'll keep this post visible on my account (I have also archived my old vent art from a few years ago) since it feels pretty personal.
The basic story behind this picture is something along the lines of: someone broke this girl's heart, she is trying to move on but her wounds from the past are still holding her back so she can't be free and soar ... yet. However, she's doing her best to patch up herself and heal.

I guess I'll resort to posting my WIPs from now on to be a little more active here. Ever since I started studying at university, I've rarely had any finished artworks, although I still sketch in my free time ... Maybe it's because my studies take up so much time and energy that I don't have as much creative energy left as I used to when I was still in (the German equivalent of) middle or high school. ... Anyone else who feels that way?

Btw, this sketch is also supposed to show an outfit I might sew for my next ball in a few months, I'm collecting design ideas at the moment.

It's ... been a while since my last post ... I really wish I could have drawn and painted a lot more.
However, the past year has been just horrible for me: I struggled at uni, had massive problems with my old student dorm, dealt with friendship issues and had my heart broken, all of which gave me an even harder time to focus on my studies. Then I had covid and got sick again and again and again last semester, to the point I had to quit dancing for a few months and also missed many of my Maths lectures I later had to catch up on ...
.
Now that I've ended the friendship that had sadly become so toxic, learnt to feel at home in my new student dorm after moving last year and also passed that important Maths exam I failed a year ago (doing extraordinarily well after all my hard work!), I feel like a HUGE burden has been lifted off me and I can finally take a breather this semester!
.
My brain is full of ideas for new artworks, sketches and sewing projects! All this time I didn't have the energy to pick up a paintbrush or a pencil, I did have ideas but just couldn't realise them, so now it feels like I'm overflowing with creativity! Let's see if I can keep up with posting about my projects, though! xD

I actually started working on this painting months ago, but ... a lot has happened since then. The original plan was to add flowers in the background, but yesterday, when I found it and decided to finish it, I was way more in a Christmassy mood, so this is what I ended up with.
... No, I definitely don't think it's too early for Christmas spirit! After all, the Christmas markets are already open in my city.

Hello there! Long time no see. I say this every time, I know, but I really constantly forget that I should not neglect my creative hobbies.
Well, since I've been sick for a few days now, I was kind of forced into slowing down and spending some me-time pursuing my hobbies instead of always working. It was a much needed break and felt great (aside from the sickness, of course)!
My table was such a mess afterwards, though! xD Pastels and charcoal aren't exactly the cleanest art tools, but they're fun to work with!~

Small fun fact about the ship: I had to do some research on medieval European ship types for a seminar paper I'm currently working on and really felt like drawing one of those ships I read about. In case you didn't know yet: I love sailing ships, especially those from a different era!

It turned out that I enjoyed colouring my last sketch so much that I decided to do the same with my older sketches from the same sketchbook. I think it's not only great practice, but also really relaxing — just what I need in my exam phase.

After finishing my history exam, I can finally upload this digitally coloured version of my drawing of Dohalim from Tales of Arise. It was soo much fun, and really relaxing to just colour in the sketch while listening to my history seminar or a nice audio book!~

Apparently, I hadn't sketched on paper for so long I had forgotten how relaxing it can be! Now I hope I remember this the next time studying stresses me out.
Well, the fact that the new "Tales of" game gave me some long-lost inspiration certainly helped rediscover my love for sketching. And the decision to just ignore how I tend to draw similar motives (faces in front view) over and over again.

I drew Dohalim from "Tales of Arise" because I kind of grew especially fond of him (and Kisara whom I might draw next) as I played the game. Besides, I could really relate to his passion for music, art, literature and history (the latter is what I study at uni).

I know I'm a little late, I was sick on New Year's Eve so I couldn't finish this earlier, but I still want to wish you guys a happy new year!
Hopefully, things will get better soon ... Due to the current pandemic situation my uni has decided to switch to digital teaching again. Now I find it hard to make friends or even maintain old friendships. My exams have either been postponed or are just uncertain at the moment.
It's kind of hard to stay optimistic in times like these, but I wish all of us a lot of strength!
