This is Conchita. Today is her birthday. She is a retired telemetry nurse, currently living in a small house in the Philippines enjoying her home roots. She is my amazing mother, teaching us all a lesson today. She didn't ask for gifts for her birthday, and she didn't want anything for Christmas. Instead, she donated gifts, money, and food to the local church and people in her Philippine community. She teaches us today, that the gift of giving is the most amazing gift you can receive. She told me her heart is full for putting a smile on these kid's faces today. I am forever grateful for this woman, for everything she has done for me. Remember to be grateful for EVERYTHING in life. HAPPY NURSES WEEK! And Happy Early Mother's Day! My mom is a retired nurse of more than 25+ years and the main inspiration of why I became one too! She came to Texas from the Philippines to work at a hospital while she was pregnant with me and worked her ass off to raise me and my siblings. She worked 6-7 days a week on the tele floor and when I finally got into nursing I realized how hard doing that many shifts in a row is. So here is to all the nurses out there and all the hard working mothers raising their kids! You deserve all the love this week! by @felinolino

I applied at Costco. I really did, I was so burnt out in bedside nursing I was looking for anything different.

I would get so anxious and down, telling myself that bedside nursing was all I knew and I would be in this burnt out state forever, dreading everyday going to work. Sound familiar?

Flight nursing gave me a new spark in the field and I love my job. The pay is great, the schedule is amazing, and working with other highly skilled individuals everyday is such a blessing.

This weekend, I was so blessed to have competed in another CrossFit competition that was held by @catacombs_throwdown. Definitely a lot of good things happened during the comp like placing well in a barbell workout (last picture) and of course getting HYPED AF. BUT the first 4 pictures show a whole new experience I had.

The first four pictures in the post are from the "finals heat" and I was in a position to actually make the podium for the first time ever. The workout was a short 7 minutes that consisted of chest to bar pull ups, and heavy barbell work. The workout started out great, but as I went up for another set of chest to bar pull ups, my left arm gave me a cramp I have never experienced shown in the first two photos. My whole left forearm, bicep, and the side my shoulder involuntary contracted and I couldn't stop it. I was actually trying to take my right arm to try and straighten it out and it would continue to cramp and contract towards my body 😅. Thankfully it was just a cramp and nothing more serious, but I couldn't do anything for a minute or 2.

I don't know what got into me, but I started to get a little emotional, realizing I am about to take last place in my heat, and the chances of the podium are long gone. Then the crowd and familiar faces all around started to cheer , and I told myself "it's over, stop being a little b**tch and finish the workout." The cramp was still there but started to become manageable and I just zoned out (4th picture) and completed the workout.

Shit happens, have your brief moment to cry about it, and move on. I learned from it, and having the people you love all around you, cheer for you and be there to support you after obstacles like that was the real highlight of the weekend.
